Help - gen datewheel & dial are not aligning

Hi,
I’m using a VS 3135 with a used gen champagne wheel and a gen linen dial.

However, the date in the window is left justified by a millimeter. The center hole is centered with the pinions.

I’m wondering if the gen datewheel i got is too worn out or made for a previous calibre movement?

Is there any suggestions on fixing this or just leave it as is?

I would try the stock VS datewheel (or any other 3135 DW) first and see how it looks. That way you know for sure if it's the DW or the dial. It could be a date window incompatibility between the dial and the movement.

Thanks for the tip.
Ugh, i wish i tested before installing the hands.

But is that even possible? - Gen dial being wrong with a 3135?

The dial should be compatible. I guess it's from a 16013? That reference used the 3035 movement, but as far as i know it is 100% compatible with 3135.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not a watch maker but neo vintage Rolex and vintage Rolex (4-5 digit) is not exactly known for the stellar QC that we know Rolex to have now, misaligned date is quite common... also maybe I'm getting older or my eyesight is shot but that justification is barely noticeable for me, it's like 0.1mm to the left and blown up

A better word for the dial window / DW alignment being incompatible is unfavorable. And I meant for the rep VS movement, not for a 3135 in general.

Even among rep movements and dials there can be unfavorable alignments between dial windows and datewheels. For example since CLEAN switched to using the VS3135 in their 116x Subs, I've seen many with low sitting dates.

Here's one of mine.

I haven't had this apart yet to attempt a correction but I do have another DW to try. It's not an acceptable look for a modern watch IMO. I have found that when mixing parts you can often improve the result. You could also try your dial on a VR movement and see what it looks like. If OK then try it with the gen DW. Personally the way yours looks would always be an eye drawing fault to me that I would never be happy with.

3135 and 3035 dws are totally incompatible. 3035 dw turns the other way. This thread suggests the 3035 dates are left justified too but I'm not convinced as I've seen gen 16800 dials on 3135s that looked ok.

Use vr3135 movement.
I get better date alignment using vr3135 than vs3135 for older datejust dials with gen date discs.
This is also why i build using vr3135 nearly exclusively now.

Oddly, from my limited sample size, the VS3135's date can be aligned well within the date windows of modern gen Rolex dials like 116610.

Totally this. Heck, I have some recent gens myself / serviced quite a lot of them with not perfectly aligned datewheels. More common on 3135 than 32 anyway.

I think the issue is the dial is from 16013, so 3035. I thought “Swiss Made” were all 16233, but i just saw some 16013’s with “Swiss Made” too.

Anyways, I just ended up tweaking the dial feet slightly to shift it little bit, but i’ll just have to live with it. Hoping it won’t drastically fit weird in my case

Dial on stock VS3135 date wheel

Gen datewheel
