Bought this this beauty for my dad as a Father's Day gift 3 years ago - him knowing it was a rep as I wasn't going to drop $10K - but also that it was a GREAT rep with an ETA movement and he loved it.

All was good until 6 months ago, when forgetting he was wearing it, submerged his wrist in water. Instead of immediately calling me to ask what to do to fix it, he puts it in an easy bake oven to dry it out - I sh*t you not! The expanding water condensation popped out the crystal while of course not solving the original issue at all.

Miraculously the movement itself appears to be completely unaffected and is running fine and the dial / hands weren't impacted either. But the retaining ring, screws, and crown screw need to cleaned up / replaced and the crystal (which also appears fine) re-affixed.

I asked Katt but he said wasn't his deal so how should I go about getting this fixed?

Doesn't SpeedyG do waterproofing? If it were me, I would have had Katt service it anyway, put in a new stem and buy some new tabs/screws. Just because it runs good now, and looks fine, doesn't mean jack sheit! I bet if you cracked the barrel it would be full of corrosion. It looks like he wears it and has enjoyed it for a very long time. If you get that waterproofed and serviced, it will last him many many more years to come. Having said all that, my 243 just vaped on me when I went in the sauna/lake. I opened it and let it dry out. I am not getting it serviced either. ;) I did send mine to Speedy to have it sealed and tested however.

I wish I had an easy back oven, I'm jealous. ;)

Katt says he doesn't have the parts so I'd have to source before sending to him but I have no idea what to acquire. Anybody know?

I think these parts are great to have on hand. Those screws are tiny. ;)

Good to see that got sorted, it doesn't look like too much damage has been done.
