Help for daytona disassembly

Hello, I would like to make my ARF thinner, I read that the steps would firstly be to find a thinner bottom, then remove the deco plate and replace the rotor with an eta. I found this photo, I ask you if the steps are correct (as I've never opened a caseback, but I'll put all of myself to do it!):

0) Open caseback
1) Pull the red part (nothing to unscrew, it will come off only by pulling)
2) Unscrew the blue screws that hold the deco plate, remove deco plate and tighten the screws previously unscrewed
3) Turn green circle counter clockwise and the whole circle will unscrew off
4) at this point I wanted to know: if I don't find the ETA rotor, can I turn my daytona into manual winding? Can I leave it without the rotor and put the thin caseback back or not? Thanks to those who will intervene: D

Personally I wouldn't just pop off the rotor. That will render it unusable without reattaching the bearing to the disc, which can be difficult without a proper tool. The three little screw heads on the rotor screw are fake and just glued on. You can pry them out leaving holes exposed. Then you can use a couple small drill bits and pliers to turn the 3 holed screw off. I'm guessing you read the linked post below, that's where the pic came from.

You may need different screws to go back in the holes where the deco plate was attached. They may be too tall and get hit by a replacement rotor, or not screw down far enough to anchor the movement properly.

You can operate the watch completely without the rotor or deco plate installed, assuming you get the movement anchored properly.

I would just get a replacement rotor if you are going to all this trouble.

Do not pull the red part off. It’s actually very easy to remove the rotor without damaging anything. You can place some of that “self sticking” plastic over the rotor and put your index finger on the center and simply unscrew it. Super easy.

Do not pull the red part off. It’s actually very easy to remove the rotor without damaging anything. You can place some of that “self sticking” plastic over the rotor and put your index finger on the center and simply unscrew it. Super easy.

Unscrew the central “screw” with your finger (it’s what holds the rotor in place). Then the rotor comes off.... after that you can remove the cover plate...leaving you with these three pieces:

ok perfect everything is clear thanks At this point I stay with 1) rotor 2) deco plate 3) deco plate screws 4) central screw If I wanted to turn it into manual winding, do I have to screw in screws 3 and 4? thus essentially eliminating rotor and deco plate

Yeah don’t just pull the rotor, you can unscrew it and take out the decoration. Personally I’d leave it as it is or if the thickness really bothers you sell and buy the noob.

Remove all parts as described, replace the screws where they came out and install the Noob caseback.

I add a request for those who know: what internal and external dimensions does the noob caseback have? Because I have many old REPs at home, maybe a case back is fine on my arf
