Recently noticed that the o-ring on the crown will need to be replaced so I opened up the back to release the stem but j can not see the release button. Any pictures on what scares need to remove to take the deco plate off to access the stem release?

Thanks in advance.

Post a pic so we can help. The rotor has to come off to get the deco plate off, but I think you should be able to take the movement out without removing those parts.

If you take pics with the rotor still attached, we need 2 pics to see both sides of the movement (move the rotor to opposite sides in each of 2 pics).

Screws in the rotor are decorative. You need to turn the whole deco part. Once you have it off, you can get to the main rotor fixation.

Apparently you will have to remove the rotor and the deco plate to get to the stem release button. He said the 3 rotor screws showing is actually a little deco plate too. Not sure if that is pried off or twisted off, but underneath it would be the real rotor screw.

He color coded the parts to be removed, green red and blue. Many people just leave the movement deco plate off. It serves no purpose.

Actually it does - if you dont have it on, the movement is too sunken and causes the tabs/screws to jiggle and the movement not secure. The deco plate adds "padding" in a sense. The problem may be solved by bent tabs or shorter screws, but I couldn't get it right so I just put it back on

Oh yeah I forgot about the need to change or mod the case clamps! I don't own one of these only know what I've read. Thanks bro.

I've read that folks swap out the rotor with a heavier one too to give greater power reserve. Thinking about picking up the new ARF white dial FG one of these, very nice!

Is there any trick to turn the top deco plate off, ie the one with the 3 fake screws on it? Should I just use some nice needle point tweezers and try unscrewing it?

The three fake screw heads are just glued in place so be careful not to have one pop off and go down into the movement.

Some one else used two small screw drivers together to turn that part off.

I'm unclear on this piece also. On the ARF SD43, the rotor screw has a deco plate head, it is one piece and unscrewing the deco head unsrews rhe rotor screw. IDK if the Daytona is actually two separate pieces or not.

On an ARF Daytona, it is not two separate pieces... If you remove the fake 4130 decoration plate you can replace the rotor with a larger one that will auto wind better. You can also use a normal screw to hold the larger rotor in place.

So is the Rotor screw deco cover threaded or can it just be pried off? Or does the rotor screw have an attached decorated head like the ARF SD43 does? That is the piece I was asking about. Thanks.

This is an after the rotor was replaced picture. The new rotor is a larger ETA rotor and you can see it is held in place with a single larger screw.

The fake 4130 deco plate, old rotor, "deco" screw, and a gear pressed out of the center of the rotor are all shown removed...

It is a screw with a large head with the three fake screw heads glued to it. It can not just be pried off.

Much better final arrangement. Hard to believe ARF would go to all the trouble and expense of putting all that deco crap in a closed case in lieu of an efficient, easy to remove rotor that allows access to the stem release button. Go figure.

Getting back to the OP's earlier question, what tool is best to turn the rotor deco screw head to get the rotor off? I guess you could super glue an allen wrench head to it long enough to twist it off then dissolve the glue in goof off (acetone). How totally inconvenient not to have a simple slotted head screw, oh but it looks "cool". I think under all circumstances once I had the rotor screw off, a normal rotor screw would replace it.

So I got the plates all off but when I press the stem release button it barely moves down and the stem does not release. I currently just have the crown unscrewed so it in the manual winding position right now. Do I just need to be more forceful in pressing the button and pulling the crown?

Never mind a little more pressure and it all worked out. Now I just have to find the right size o-ring.

How did you remove the deco head rotor screw?
