Hi all,

I've been doing a lot of reading here for weeks and have gone over everything ALE has posted and other noteworthy members have posted. It's all been very useful. I'm going to pick up a pam rep but I prefer closed caseback so that the movement flaws cannot be seen. But the sausage dial on 000,005,390 is worrying me. Exactly how significant is this? I read somewhere ALE said it's bothering to him, and then it landed in M attention too. Is the V 4 111 or 112 a better bet then (if I ignore the display caseback)?
I want the dial to be as close to gen as possible. Dial > caseback anyday for me.

So friends, is the sausage really that much of an issue or should I freely pull the trigger on any of the 000, 005,390?

Appreciate any feedback you can give to this noob. Happy to join this growing community!

Cheers

The PAM000, PAM005 and PAM390 are all super reps. The slight difference in how the sausage lume is applied on these models should not bother you, unless you are planning to wave that watch in front of experienced and well researched Risti. That said, the gen PAM390 being a later release has a much flatter surface compared to the older gen 000 and 005 so the rep PAM390 is closer to the gen. Plus an H-Fac 000 released from 2015 showed a much improved (and gen-like) construction.

Wow thanks for your reply mate! That's a bug help. I have read the same thing about the 390 but the sausage dial thing after ALE mentioned it got me thinking. But i think that's because people like that are experts way better than me. I'm looking to pursue as a hobby, so I have no interest in holding it up under a microscope trying to pull it off as something else. So 000 or 390 for the time being. I'll maybe wait for some more opinions, but yours was a very relieving one for me. Much appreciated!

You can't go wrong with the latest 000, 005, 390 or even the 4xx series watches that toro has on sale...
I fixed a 005 the other day for a buddy, and I was amazed at how good the dial was. Hell I'd wear it, and I usually only wear highly modified or Franken Panerai. Just my 2 cents since you were looking for ahem, other opinions.

Thanks mate. You've successfully convinced me. I just wanted to hear from someone with good experience in dealing with these reps to reassure me. You fit that bill perfectly and I'm very glad you got back to me on this. I'll settle of a 000 or 005. I think I'll be fine with those since I prefer the clean and simpler PAMs.
Cheers!

Just because it's on the site does not mean it's available. I think the h factory or kw is also a super rep of the 390. Good choice

Yeah I saw that but was hoping for the Noob since it was listed as the best option.

Fair enough I'll explore h factory or kw options :)

So guys, puretime can only offer me a 111 or 005.

So my question is, the 111 V4 caseback has clear tells, but what about when you compare what you actually SEE the most, aka the DIAL.
Is the 111 better on the dial section than the 005 because it's a sandwich? Or is the sausage on the 005 not going to bother upfront as a casual piece?

The Noob PAM111 sandwich dial is better replicated than the Noob PAM005 sausage dial. However, there is a PAM005 H-fac V2 which has a better constructed sausage dial, closer to gen, on Asian7750's website.

Both the 111 and 005 are amazing pieces. It really boils down to your own personal preferences at this point.

Thanks guys! this stuff is so helpful here on this forum!
So I`m guessing that a 005 dial may not be AS GOOD as a 111 dial, but its nothing noticeable to non-rep enthusiasts or hardcore PAM analysts.
My choices on puretime are between Noob and M H maker. So a little confused there.

To be totally honest, I have seen the 111 caseback and yes, there are tells, but if I ever held up an image of a gen caseback and showed the 111 rep caseback, the average joe could never tell unless zoomed in that its a rep. Its not as MASSIVELY inaccurate(everything is off and incorrect all over the place) as I presumed it to be from reading threads.

The average Joe wouldn't know where to look. As long as you don't remove the watch from your wrist, nobody will be the wiser.
