Hello there,

Been reading the past few days loads of stuff on the forum and decided I would also join as a member. I have a thirst of information and boy oh boy is there loads of that here. Great insights into how this world works.

I think I have started to build an image of how it works with first deciding what model of watch you want then finding the factory then TD and then that whole process.
I guess what I have yet to learn is which model is the one I want to have and what it will say about me. Is a Panerai 005 gonna give off the wrong vibes even if I love how it looks ? Will the IWC Tourbillon be the better choice ? Or will I just be laughed at by me peers ?

Then well the forum is quite extensive with articles and topic. I think what I would like to ask for is how do I go about assessing which factory makes the version of the model I want in the way I want it ? Do you (referring to anyone who might be reading this) look at the comparing photos ? Do you care more about the movement inside ?
When I’ve been trying to think about it I like the picture I saw of someone looking at a watch from 6 feet away, and well then it’s just all blurry. So as long as I’m happy with it it’s enough. But still there is that fear in the back of my mind, what if I buy it and it doesn’t work or will stop working, then what ? I for one don’t have the capacity of repairing it. Are there watchrepair shops that will accept my watch ? Or will they you know call the cops for having a counterfeit ?

Anyway I’m sure in my pursuit of answers I will get to the bottom of these thoughts.
For now I’d like to say thank you to so many of you for the valuable insights I’ve already received about what was an unknown playground till about 4 days ago.

I’ll be seeing you around ;)

A good starting point is this list of important resources on RWI:

Also, this please take a look at this particular sticky thread:

Hi @Granater123 you're on the right path.
Do some research in the models you like, try to dig out all possible threads to find out which factory will suit you best. Google is good at researching, add "...site:forum.replica-watch.info" to your query and you'll find plenty of answers. Once you've done some research, your can ask the community to answer the remaining questions. Do some research in movements, too, extensive info in the tech section available, you'll learn the differences and decide what fits your requirements.
Also in the tech section info about whatchmakers and horologists to help if something is wrong, but leave that for when and if you have problems.
All in all, don't overthink it, try one and if you don't like it, you can always sell here in M2M (strict rules about them, read those please).
Anything you need, just reach out.
Good luck

Ahhh that’s very kind of you to say, I felt like I was perhaps just babbling on a little bit too much hehe.

That is a great idea !!! I’ll head and read some now!
Spent the afternoon looking at movement comparison for 3135. Really a novice in this. I want to find a movement which potentially could be modded with som gen stuff so that it will tick for a long while.
Loved the M2M section also for checking out people’s Franken projects!
And even tho it’s reps and it’s a fraction of the price it’s still a lot of money we’re talking about for watches.
So will probably take the summer to read and then when autumn rolls around I’ll take my shot…unless THE Deal comes up :p hehe but thank you for wishing me welcome and saying kind words !
