Hello there,
Been reading the past few days loads of stuff on the forum and decided I would also join as a member. I have a thirst of information and boy oh boy is there loads of that here. Great insights into how this world works.
I think I have started to build an image of how it works with first deciding what model of watch you want then finding the factory then TD and then that whole process.
I guess what I have yet to learn is which model is the one I want to have and what it will say about me. Is a Panerai 005 gonna give off the wrong vibes even if I love how it looks ? Will the IWC Tourbillon be the better choice ? Or will I just be laughed at by me peers ?
Then well the forum is quite extensive with articles and topic. I think what I would like to ask for is how do I go about assessing which factory makes the version of the model I want in the way I want it ? Do you (referring to anyone who might be reading this) look at the comparing photos ? Do you care more about the movement inside ?
When I’ve been trying to think about it I like the picture I saw of someone looking at a watch from 6 feet away, and well then it’s just all blurry. So as long as I’m happy with it it’s enough. But still there is that fear in the back of my mind, what if I buy it and it doesn’t work or will stop working, then what ? I for one don’t have the capacity of repairing it. Are there watchrepair shops that will accept my watch ? Or will they you know call the cops for having a counterfeit ?
Anyway I’m sure in my pursuit of answers I will get to the bottom of these thoughts.
For now I’d like to say thank you to so many of you for the valuable insights I’ve already received about what was an unknown playground till about 4 days ago.
I’ll be seeing you around
