Hello and WELCOME to RWI from the official reception desk!

You are receiving this reply either because you posted in the "new members say hi" section or because I spotted one of your first posts elsewhere. In the latter case, please consider going to the aforementioned section to introduce yourself.

If you haven't already, please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members section (in all subsections) as they contain information for newbies and most importantly our forum rules! In particular, please take note of our sales rules, because you will be NOT yet eligible / allowed to sell as you need to meet certain criteria / be certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Also, please take a look at this sticky thread:

If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We love to help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

Welcome to this place. In which part of Germany are you living?
What will your first Rep most likely be?
Always keep in mind: perfect number of watches is current number plus 1.

Greetings from Hamburg

I am living in southern Germany :)

I was thinking about buying a Submariner from JTime, but as a newbie I can not really judge the difference in the various models and factories.

For instance this one:

seems nice, but there are also some more expensive models like

or

I wonder which one shall I pick. Is the difference mainly in the Movement?

Cheers!

Welcome! I'm too from southern Germany 🫡 feel free to drop me a PM where you from 🙂

Regarding the Sub, there is a wide consensus about VSF being one of the best factories, also due to their top tier clone movements. Keep in mind that the gen is made from white gold, so the rep will not have the gen-like weight.

It may be worth to visit other TDs and compare prices (and always their terms and policies you feel comfortable with). I can also recommend TheOneWatches and Trustytime, both offer a replacement in case the parcel gets seized by customs.

Fully agree with that remark and want to add that the rep has a different apperance compared to the Real-Deal due to the different material the case and the bracelet are made of as Rep parts.
Generally what my watchmaker told me some years ago when he serviced my first Noob 116610 v7 that I should go the AETA 2824 way as these movements are reliable and can be serviced by any watchsmith. I went the 3135 clone movement way and had no serious issues for almost 6 years now. And the VS 3135 (DanDong 3135) and the VR 3135, that are used nowadays in RLX Replicase are reliable movements.
The 2813 (21 Jewels) movement that is used in cheaper clones is mentioned as a generally reliable movement. I was not lucky as all the watches I had with a 2813 movement inside broke after a very short time.

Hi! I also read here that VSF and Clean are the favored factories, with VSF having a slight lead on the movement, and Clean being a little bit better on the exterior. I tend towards buying from any of these two factories.

Thanks for noting on the materials. I think this might be a problem, since whitegold also notably looks different than stainless steel? I initially thought most gen subs come with a stainless steel bracelet, but this seems to hold only for specific models, and unfortunately not for the blue brezel model.

Thanks for the remark! I will reconsider my choice, I did not know that the materials are different. And thanks for your comments on the movement! I actually care a lot about maintainability.

A little bit warmer in color, but it's hard to spot without a true white gold material beside it.

Regarding a sub, you have the options between solid clone movements in VSF or for example an A2824 in RXF (before they renamed to VSF) but RXF only offer the 116610LN while VSF is offering a wider range and 12XXXXX subs.

A2824 is the easiest one regarding maintainability - it is cheap to replace or can be upgraded to Swiss ETA if needed. But other factories with VR3135/VR3235 are also good.

Find more about the movements here:

Your linked GMT Master II from Clean is also a good option. The DD3285 movement is considered as a very good one although long-term expirience is not yet given. I have the Batman and it's a beautiful watch with butter-smooth movement 🙂 but in case of an defect DD3285 - if other experts don't contradict - getting a replacement is not that easy.
