Hamilton: The Poor Man's IWC?

Like a lot of people here, I've been recently fascinated with IWC lately, especially the dress watches like the Portuguese and Portifino. So in my search, I started noticing something peculiar with the Hamilton brand. What do you guys think of these watches? Look familiar?

Now Hamilton is an excellent brand so the quality of these Im sure are great. But I find it interesting that the designs are scarily close to IWC watches. Rather than shelling out for an IWC franken, this might be a route to consider...

Hamiltons are really great, the quality and design. Some models are indeed like IWC but some are not. Look next door at RWG. I have a great hamilton jazzmaster for sale there.

I Owned one in the past (a jazzmaster open heart). It was an awesome timekeeper, not too expensive, very orginal and classy.

It's a shame I was robbed and the watch has gone ...

There are a lot of IWC Portuguese lookalikes, like the Oris XXL, and even a few Carrera models from Tag Heuer. They're meant to look similar. I own a Jazzmaster Maestro (your first photo) myself.

i really like the maestro as well. its a pretty high price point for me right now but ill keep an eye out for a preowned or good deal in the grey market...

Hamilton is a legitimate brand, with real history, like many have noted. Their military pieces have a semi-cult collector following.
