Boudart-

Thanks for posting the pics. Amazing.

Total noob question: What does the letter after the 111 mean? I've seen 111(m), etc. My guess is that it has to do with the type of movement. If that is the case, what is the best, most reliable movement with PAM reps?

Again, thank you.

no it's the sequential designation assigned to the order of release. it started with the a-f series.then h series then g series so on and so on. now the latest release happens to be the ''m'' series

M series for reps.

But as stated by panto, for the gens it correspond to the year of building.
2010 was M, 2011 is N, and 2012 wil be O.
It all started in 1998 with the A series, that's why some are called pre-A, other are called pre-V, because they were buil before Vendome (now Richmond) group bought Panerai.

Thank you for the great information.

Where can I get the same one you have Boudart? (111m)
How much should I expect to pay?

H-Factory make the 177m, and all the dealers can get it (if it is not sold out).

Sead also sells the H-Factory version, but I think he does some extra work on some watches he sells. You will have to check if the 177 has anything done to it or not.

Thanks for sharing this X. I hadn't seen this before, and it is one hell of a comparison.

Myself? ...I'm thinking Noob. BUT, one things that wasn't addressed are any issues with the movements on these... Do either have issues?

I vaguely remember reading that the reason sead does work to his pieces is that the movements have inherent flaws. Is this true?

I just thought I would revive this thread slightly following puretime's teardown of Gen v H v Noob 111M!

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/ultimate-pam111m-teardown-review-150-86121?t=86121

It looks like the Noob version's lume is closer to gen, or at least the gen dial in the review, which seems weird as the pics above in this thread look very similar between H Factory and gen!

H Factory definitely looks longer lasting though...

Argh, I can't decide between the two!! :D

The gen is a 21600bph 'highbeat' movement. The H Factory uses lowbeat movements that are incorrect to gen, and some people have had issues with them, but less so recently (at least there's been less 'DOA!!' posts that I've seen recently!). The Noobfactory is using a correct highbeat movement that seems to be better finished and (so far...) more reliable, but a bit more expensive.

Either is fine, really - if someone can tell a lowbeat tick vs a highbeat tick of that tiny seconds hand (or without a seconds hand on a base dial!) then they truely are WIS and they'll spot other tells first! :D lol

also the low beat bridge is not engraved with "officine panerai" it is printed on the bridge opposed to the noob high beat movement which is engraved and painted

Thanks X. Since I am looking at the Noob, is there any kind of pattern to the issues with this movement? I'm really less concerned with the finish than I am with the function. I just want the thing to work and give me a good run of reliability (understanding that nothing is guaranteed).

What kind of functional issues are most common aside from the worst- DOA?
Is this movement hijacked or modified in any way?

Nope, standard 6497 (with or without seconds hand), just finished with bridges that look like Panerai (in both movements) :)

No problems that I've read about with the Noob highbeat movements so far so you should be fine! If it dies within a short period of time after getting it then the Trusted Dealer will very probably be able to sort you out (best to check their policies before you buy) or you can get the movement serviced for ~$100 :)

The H Factory ones seem to just sort of stop and die sometimes lol, but there's only been a few posts about it so I wouldn't worry too much whichever movement you get!
