H-Factory diver delima

Hi guys,

My H-factory diver has a shit movement. Today it sounded funny so I had a look. When I removed the auto-winding bridge all the wheels fell out. I'm using it now as a manual but I suspect it's only a matter of time before this movement dies completely. I need to decide what to do.

1) send it to vac and install a Swiss. Other than the movement this watch is nice. The AR is ok bar the cyclops, the markers are straight, the tachy is well aligned... I'd be very happy with it with a Swiss...

2) sell it as is and buy a V3 from Angus. This gives me a potentially better watch but no guarantee the QC will be as good as my one at the moment. However I like the idea of it being waterproof, and the cyclops and dial are probably better. There's no guarantee I could sell the H-fac though, and will be getting another clone that could be great or could be shit.

3) send it back to andrew and be patient. It's a right crap shoot though, weeks to get there, no idea of the quality of the repair, probably be another shit movement go into it... but it's free.

Any ideas guys? Leaning towards sending it to vac for a new movement.

I wonder what they will do when they get it? I think there is a fundimental issue with the movement. It's basically a piece of shit. Would have been better off with a 21J in there.

Hmm tough one, these are dropping left right and centre on the sales section, if your happy with the case, bezel ect and it's a keeper then send off to vac to drop a Swiss in, otherwise send it back get repaired and flip it:popcorn:
And buy the V3:hehehe: you know it's better

if you like it, send it for full modd, but you still have wrong caseback, bad dial, AR and all the other bad stuff.
Just sell it and buy a v3

I'm still waiting to see some V3s in the wild, but ya it's better. I really like the h-factory version too though.

The HFAC movement is very bad. I recently removed it. Here it is:

My personal solution: I am dropping a Swiss ETA into it to be modded to a low beat.
Out of cost control (remember it is cheaper than the PT 3.0), HFAC dropped a very cheap movement into their FC Divers. IMO, it is not worth servicing at all, as breakdown cannot be avoided with the parts they used. The whole keyless works and gear train is a ticking time bomb. Replacement parts for HFAC movement cannot be bought on any commercial watch parts retailer, as they are not ETA standard at all. Only place to service it is in China--and that is a hassle. On the other hand, the HFAC FC case is nice, bezel/dial/hands very good (I had none of the yellowed lume problems). But the crystal is mineral glass, and the cyclops likely as well--needs replacing.
On the other hand, the movement in my V2 PT FC Diver was a Swiss 2824. I am curious to see the movements in the V3.

That really sucks, but we have all tinkered with a movement or two only to find out that we were in over our heads. Vac does great work, but I am not sure i would spend vac money just to do a movement swap or service. These are simple movements and a local watch smith can do a service/swap for less and usually a lot faster. I am not sure what movement H factory is using in the diver, but I suspect it's Nanking, and not the better/more expensive seagull st2130. I would spend $100 to service a seagull, but i would swap out a Nanking/shanghai movement . I have had awful luck with the Nanking/shanghai movements in BP watches, but the seagulls have been trouble free for me. Getting a fresh eta 2824 or sw200 will cost about 250 plus around $50 for the swap (unless you can do the work yourself). Not a bad way to go if the diver is a keeper for you. You can also source a fresh seagull for around $85-100 on eBay. If the watch isn't a keeper and you can swap a movement yourself, drop in a fresh seagull and wear for a while or bite the bullet and sell it for a loss now.

Set2374, in my images above, is that a Nanking? I have never seen anything like this.

thanks for the advice.

For once I didn't actually do anything to break the movement. As soon as I unscrewed the autowind bridge there were wheels everywhere! Very different to a 2824.

Vac will provide and swap a movement for $260 which I thought was reasonable...?

Is that price for a low beat? if so, I would take VAC up on that offer. My costs will be alot more when the low beat is completed.

Yes, you are going to need a high hour wheel, etc. as the dial is thick.

Selling the HFAC M2M here is a better bet than getting Trusty to take this back.
BTW, sharrkey, nice avatar--where did this come from?

Ok, hold on, are we talking h fac FC diver? If so, mine seems to be running ok? But i purchased a v3 FC from angus so i can use the Hfac as a daily beater.
