Well until now not that much. the case went for a very good price due its used condition, since 1974...

As for the smp, damn that pushers, they are a huge pain in the ash, i wish i didn't have them, but since i do i will install those little bastards!!! I also hope it will be ready before i start the speedmaster one...

There was thread on RWG I think a few months ago who did 2 speedy frankens. He used Tissot movements. They looked awesome.

Next founds available are going to Gen dial, hands and crown. Assembly will follow.

The thing is that I have a good offer on an omega 861 and I am thinking of it cause then this will be a Gen and not that much fun building it...

i was observing the movement today and i notice that one the bridge there is the inscription 1883 instead of 1873.

1883 though is supposed to have a moon phase function also which i can't see in the front of the movement?

Shitt, I dunno pap, but if it is then that is disappointing. I'm not really sure how to tell difference between 1883 and 1873 on a quick look, it should have the extra gearing for the moonphase complication but I can't see it? Have you any face on shots of the movement front and back? The 1883 on the movement does definitely suggest it is a moonphase though.

More pics of an 1883 case back here:

I have also made a mistake and only just realised it thanks to your thread. I picked up a cheap '1873' and was going to do a custom speedy or something with it and only just realised it isn't an '1873', it looks exactly like an '1873' but it is an '1877' which is an 1873 with an extra hour complication added for 24hr watches.....bloody great!
:) I will either have to remove the complication converting it to an 1873 (which I don't want to do) or scrap it. Moral of the story, be careful with these lemania movements some are not what they seem ;)

Well i can't be sure 100%. Maybe mine is already converted? Or it has some of the 1883 parts? The back is the same on those ones. The front though it has to has one more gear for the moon phase which isn't there. Another common thing is the plastic part in the back, which mine hasn't not... Anyway i will soon know lol

Also the 24hour model is a big trap. I think most of those are breitling ones, so you have to check with the seller if its the 12hour correct one!

Hi Pap, yes I hope the gearing has been removed, it would save alot of hassle, afaik yours is at least mod-able to keep the moon out of it :) Mine requires changing and replacing gearing, which is pita. Let me know how it goes. Yes I think the 1877 originally came from a breitling, not sure, they are pretty rare I was told it was 1873 so I will have to think about it.

Well the movement was indeed a lemania 1883 and converted to a 1873. Parts are missing though...

The seller was really reasonable and refund me a good amount, so let the fun begin turning this movement to a fully functioning 1873!

Damn i love complex frankens!!!!:maty:

Nice Pap, good news! Keep us updated as the project progresses. I managed luckily to get hold of a tissot 863 at a really good price from azgjav over on rwg.cc, so I'm gonna put together either a gemini or silver dial speedy, the tissot movment is in great condition but needs a new hour subdial recorder pin.

(i rejected an earlier 1877 elsewhere as it would need too much modification)
