Was your item sent via Airmail or EMS?

Do folks here believe that EMS attracts more attention than regular airmail?

Every one of my orders from China have been sent via EMS and everyone made a trip through Chinese Customs. All without a hitch. Now getting through US customs is a different story. If you do not see a "Released from Customs" notice within a few days after the "Received into Customs" notice then you can start being a little nervous. My package has usually been waiting for me in my mail box on the day that tracking said it was released or maybe a day or two later. EMS tracking updates are notoriously slow. The odds are in your favor. Good luck.

Does EMS attract more attention than Air Mail? I think it does. I have had EMS packages from China held up by Customs. Curiously, in my case they have not confiscated anything, but they have had the USPS collect a "Duty" or import fee that they determined after opening the package. Each time the duty fees were just about the same as what I had paid for the watch. Having the USPS involved in the delivery process is a big negative in my opinion. But, EMS has been the only service offered for orders from China except by one dealer on another forum recently. He used DHL, and the package was at my doorstep four days after I paid for it. I have only received orders via air mail from Thailand. They have averaged 18 to 21 days for the packages to arrive. The lack of tracking has been a problem for me. Robert insists that he sent the watch. Unfortunately, there is no record. The USPS here just says that they never received the package for delivery. I'm SOL. This has happened only on this one order. All of the other air mail orders arrived just fine.

I have recently had another package go missing, but it was being tracked by EMS and the USPS. Over three weeks went by with no information at all as to where the package was. The last tracking update said "Released from Customs" at San Francisco. Then low and behold the USPS sends the package back to the dealer because of "Insufficient address". That is another story for another thread. The point here is that there was a record and the package was found and that I have every reason to think that I will eventually receive the Maxi Marine that I have been wanting.
