Apparently, this factory came out of nowhere. It set its target straight to the all new 2020 SUB 41. When Angus puretime told me there wasn’t much info on this new maker I was a bit skeptical. But I was intrigued by this new factory and their gen comparo photos. Plus I’m not so patient and just had to have a Cermit now. I’m glad I did.
PROS
Case shape and finishing.
Rehaut engraving, sheen, alignment.
Crown and screw down action.
Bezel to case fit, turn action and click sound.
Ceramic insert color looks correct with other HULK inserts I’ve had.
Ceramic insert numeral font depth and fill look very good. Platinum?
Dial detail and print quality.
Date wheel font and print quality. Date perfectly centered.
Hands and hour markers (although my 12 marker slightly crooked).
Crystal is...well, crystal clear.
Cyclops is distortion free with good black hole effect.
A2824 is a proven workhorse, has the same time set direction as the cal. 3235, and can be directly replaced with with a Swiss ETA 2824.
Excellent clasp fit and feel with precise folding and no lateral play.
Uniform brushed finish from case to bracelet to clasp.
Correct SEL recess per gen.
Overall QC with clean dial, hands, date alignment.
CONS
Basically the bracelet. It has a smooth, beautiful satin finish, but the SEL fit at the lugs has tiny gaps and some play. The gap is not noticeable on the wrist, but the SEL has a little play between the lugs. Also, the first bracelet link to the SEL has noticeable movement. This is nit picking and no reason not to buy this superb SUB 41. It’s just compared with ARF raising the bracelet standard so high, the Green bracelet falls short. Thankfully the clasp is good enough to make you forget the SEL on the wrist.
For me the watch feel and sound is as important as the appearance — and that’s not something you can grasp in photos. To my surprise, there is little to fault from this new Green factory. Overall, I’d give this first effort from a new factory 9.5 especially considering the SUB 41 is out only 2 months. Wow. I think I’m not alone saying we can expect great things from the “Green” factory. Respect.
