Got a cheapo quartz Tudor Monte Carlo, looking for a replacement crystal

I got a C&R Tudor Monte Carlo Heritage Quartz (case diameter 42mm, 22mm lugs) from a m2m sale. While it's got a load of flaws I've found it to be a rather nice watch for the money. The only things that really bug me are the non-painted chrono hands (which I will fix asap) and the flat POS crystal.

My crystal press hasn't arrived yet so I'm hesitant to pop the rep crystal out to measure it as I can't put it back and wear the watch as-is. Does anyone know the measurements? A gen crystal would be a waste so I'm thinking of getting a Sternkreuz domed plexi. If no-one has the info I'll measure the crystal myself and update this thread with the results.

Just picked one up myself on a whim, I'd love to know what you find out. I suspect at the price range that it's offerred, it's probably not gen construction and it's likely the crystal is just glued in as opposed to being held in by a retaining ring. Would love to make it more vintage style with a cyclops plexi.

So did I (really like the style). But must have knocked it just so and somehow cracked the crystal. No biggie, still WR, but would like to eventually replace it. I'll post if I find a replacement.

I would be interested in doing this as well. Any suggestions on a suitable crystal?

A quartz Monte Carlo? Is it a rep and are any TDs selling it?

Monte Carlo 7031/32

The first Chronographs are called "Homeplate" by collectors. This is due to the unique looking tritium markers. As far as we can see they were introduced in 1970. The last ones seen have serials corresponding to circa 1972. This is a very short production run - and very seldom seen in Rolex production lines. The 7032 sports the '500 tachy dial - solid fitted bezel. The movement in the 7031/32 is a Valjoux 7734. Which is a manual wind movement. Note the date window at 6 is uniquely "turned" and is in fact a standard cyclope that is fitted turned half way compared to ordinary Rolex cyclopes. The Reference 128 crystal is only used on the 2 register models - 70xx and 71xx models.

1st Generation Homeplate variations:

Black base dial with grey area subdials.
Grey base dial with black area subdials.
6263 Style Bakelite bezel.
6265 Style solid stainless bezel.

33mm crystals are easy enough to find, just a matter of finding a flat thick one to use. Possibly a 32mm to include room for a retaining ring?- I'm not used to installing crystals so I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to that. :)

I missed this earlier, but that's an excellent summation of links, TB!
