Godfathar's Advice On Which Is The Best Aquanaut Jumbo Out There

Hi all,
I've bought so many reps in the years ive been a member on RWI but I've never thought of buying a Patek rep until I read this thread.
The RG 5167 looks really good but I'm swaying towards the later version with the deco plates.
The date font is a bit smaller but is this noticeable at wrist distance?

Also it looks like I'll have to source a gen brown strap as it seems the factories have stopped making it.

Lastly, is the rotor noise very loud on the 2824's v the deco plate version?

Hi! I bought mine a few months ago from Puretime. Strap was chocolate brown like in the Gen. You cannot see the brown tinge even in lit areas; I find sunlight really brings out that brown tinge.

Also, this is confirmed by another member in previous posts where he upped the saturation of the QC picture and obtained a brown Colour as well.

Has anyone got a deco plate version that they can take a photo of?
I just want to know if the date wheel font is noticeable from a distance of arms length..

Yup I went for the Undecorated movement as recommended by Godfather.

He did mention that the thickness of the decorated movement is itself a big tell. No need to bother about DW since the thickness of the watch can be spotted far away

I think the thickness is a minor concern as the A2824 and Deco Miyota versions are a similar thickness from what I've read.
I think it boils down to the A2824 version having a better datewheel font, while the Miyota deco version has a slightly smaller date font (but still accurate font wise) and possible a loud rotor.

Here is my Rose gold BP V2 decorated movement

Very happy with the thinness - rotor is a little noisy as you might expect from a Miyota but it's not too bad. I think it's already so thin I don't mind the extra 1mm for the decorated plate

I really wanted the deco plate version, but I'm sacrificing that as you gave this one such a positive review and the date font is more accurate.

Yes buddy both are the SW200 versions, the Aquanaut easily identified from the movement, and the Nautilus, I didn't even have to look at the movement, the wrong over sized end-link gave it away almost immidiately. Yet I checked the movement, it's also SW200.

yes I believe.. The SW200 dial is extremely close to the gen, RG or SS.. and it is closer to gen than the 5711 reps unfortunately out of the bod and unmodded. (except for the 5711 BP V.1 with MKF white dial and hands, that in my opinion is a super rep, and closer to gen than the Aquanaut.)

^^ yes there is, but the modding job is not a clean swap, it's a difficult job to swap, with issues.. right now mine is back with the modder, as there are issues with the date wheel as the MKF dial is too thick
