Hi,

New to the world of reps! I would love to learn more about these sites and maybe get more friendly to all the people here in the forum.

I recently purchased a GMT from a social media HK seller (yeah blame me for being a newbie  and not doing my due diligence on reading first). They were hard selling me that their items are 1:1 clones, including movements. Due to excitement, I took the red pill and made my first purchase. The item was delivered smoothly with no issues.

I was so delighted when the item came as physically there were no defects and was almost perfect. Until I tinker with setting the GMT of the watch. It was running a A2836 movement instead of the 3285. I asked the seller why setting the movement was different from the one found on youtube and told me that the A2836 is more robust and less prone to issues compared to 3285, but since this is my first purchase. The seller says it will check with its factory on what can be done with it.

My question is, can the A2836 be replaced with 3285/3186 movement?
Can I do it myself? If yes where can i find those movements besides aliexpress? Or any reputable sites that sells those movements?
I believe I also need to but the hand markers since the hand stack is incorrect.

You would be better off to replace the a2836 with a Swiss movement from Selitta like the Sw-220 or ETA 2836. You can get the from any reputable watch parts place. eBay also has them but be careful buying stuff from eBay

Rather than all that which will likely not be compatible, just buy a GMT for approx £140 plus P+P from @RepPossessed
His GMT's work exactly as Gen with a modified movement, 24hr GMT as opposed to 12hr nonsense, and correct hand stack.

The watches are amazing, more so considering the price point !!

He is a busy guy so just treat him with the respect he deserves ;)

(I'm only saying that as you are new on RWI and yet to establish a track record here).

Yes from what I’ve read you’ll have to cannibalize the GMT complication from the a2836 and deal with mating it with the Swiss movement. That’s something a highly skilled watchmaker might not want to get involved with. Best to do like @Dave2302 recommends.

RepSource GMT's have the CHS modified 2813, have had Batgirl a while now, reliability and accuracy is good, GMT works exactly as per Gen.
A Bruce Wayne is winging his way to me as we speak ;)

I might even buy another as I have an older Pepsi Meteorite with fixed GMT, so after a bit of feasibility research I may swap the Meteorite Dial into it and buy a half decent Ceramic Pepsi Bezel Insert .

That’s a damn good looking 2813. I didn’t find a price tag on those. If you don’t mind me asking how much are they?

wow! forgot that this thread is still running.

anyway indecided not to push through talking to the seller already, seems they blocked/ghosted me already anyway.

to lessen the damage ill just keep the watch and maybe make it my beater watch, at least no harm done. finding a watchmaker to operate on a watch repair center at my place of residence that shows rolex as a brand might invite higher price anyway.

thanks everyone, seems my first time buying isnt a success but this does not bother me to biy another one (hopefully successful this time)

Listen. If you want a GMT that operates like gen and doesn’t cost much take the advice of @Dave2302 above and purchase one like he suggested. I just received mine and it’s great.
Forget about the other watch and move forward. Maybe in a few months you can decide what you want to do about the other watch.

I am that happy with Batgirl and Bruce Wayne that I special ordered a Pepsi GMT with this movement from RepSource, it should be here when I get back home from our road trip and the plan is to fit the Dial from my Meteorite Pepsi so I end up with a real nice Pepsi Metorite and a bunch of spare parts for some of my other cheapies.

need a lot or info on getting into this rep world!

It is all here on the Forum ;)

Do what many of us here did, navigate the different forum sections and read read read all sorts on the forum, now I have been here a while I can honestly say that ALL the answers really are here (y)

Also you will find that by having a bit of craic with folks you will learn that they will talk to you quicker, and offer advice when you really need it.

The reason you got the help here from a couple of very knowledgeable members and the old demented clown (me) was because your OP here wasn't the usual "entitled I wannit and I wannit now" kind of thread which sadly we do see quite a lot of
