Yes no doubt the PO Ultimate and 4th gen are amazing reps. I even go to the extend of modding it with genuine parts. In this case, I am stating the fact that the AR coating can't match the genuine... The best AR coating on a rep watch without modification is on Hublot Big Bang. It matches heavily coated Sinn or Breitling or Omega for that matter. I agree with your points that majority won't be able to notice it. Only those into the brand and have handled/studied the rep and gens can tell the difference.

I find myself staring at the first photos and the only thing that really jumps out at me is the bezel pearl on gen much nicer..and you mentioned the bigger crown...other than that its very hard...how about where the bracelet attaches to the case? On my Omega Bond it looks a little unfinished where bracelets connects..

two very nice watches you have there it's nice to see them side by side... :)

Well... if we are talking about 4th gen PO, a few things worth taking notes:

Crown is totally different. See picture:

Genuine Crown

Clasp comparison. Seems that the rep clasp on 4th gen does not close properly. Notice the finishing too. Left hand side is genuine.

Second hand tip. Look at crick's picture. The genuine has it's own glow that the rep will portray a duller colour.

Pearl... This one is the dead giveaway. Mine is fake pearl. So refer to crick's picture again.

Luminosity... Without doubt, genuine wins hands down:

All in all, the finishing on the genuine is better (what do you expect? You're paying 10 times of the rep price over here ).

AR coating...

Taken from the same angle with the genuine, you won't see the same reflection (it'll diminish drastically).

Let me reiterate my point: The rep is well done and worth the money! I can't deny that but still, the genuine is definitely up there... If not, you ask crick, why did he spent 2000USD+ on the genuine. It just has this X factor that you won't get from any rep.

And if you're really anal about the crown, 4th gen has the screw thread outside the crown tube. The genuine has inner screw thread on the tube.

takashi and crick: those are great comparison shots. You can really see the difference in the clasp etching...still it is easy to see why the PO is one of the best reps..now I just need to buy one... :)

Get the ultimate if wrist size allows. The crown problem seems to be resolved on this one and the AR is stronger too (still no match to the genuine :p)

Oh yeah, there's definitely a noticeable difference when you have the gen slapped on your wrist. Because of the AR, the dial is darker, and the dial itself is gorgeous. The overal finish is superb. Co-axial escapement is another BIG BIG BIG plus imo. Clasp is super - press of a button and it releases. i love the look and the case is slightly smaller which looks great on my wrist. It is my holy grail of watches :)

BUT this is what makes the REP so fabulous: you can mod it. Change out the clasp or buy a gen bracelet to get rid of that SEL gap. Change out the hands & dial. The crown, though wrong, not many will notice. if you can pluck the pearl and put a new pearl on the bezel, man - you have one really nice heavily modded PO that looks damn near gen.

By itself without mods, it is still a wonderful rep for the smaller wrists. If you dont want to do too many mods, at least hte bracelet clasp :)

I sold the rep PO :( i dont know where it went... but you can dump the bracelet and stick on a nice hirsch strap... many options for that watch as it's a solid build and great looker :)

Wonder how I have missed this... amazing pictorial Crick. I like the 42mm more just as much... maybe they'll come up with a rubber strap that fits... if they do, I will buy the rep (4th Gen) again. My only issue with the 4th Gen was the bad bracelet. Otherwise I'd still own it. ;)

I remember last time Pugwash posted a link to an online seller selling rubber strap. Although doesn't look like genuine Omega, it surely is worth the money.
