These are genuine Rolex Dwarf GMT hands:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Rolex...298169?hash=item33d8f57979:g:74MAAOSwbRJZvrxO

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-VINT...636528?hash=item489bafd2b0:g:7OcAAOSwHZ1ZwXb4

You'll no doubt notice the slightly elevated prices, the corrosion on the steel, and the patina on the lume and the paint - they are after, all 50 - 60 years old .

Then there's this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1675-GMT-small-arrow-hand-vintage-luminous-/172524073022

World Time is Phongs Ebay account. You'll notice the pristine steel, the immaculate paint, and the lume color which is remarkably similar to yours - you'll also notice there's a big difference in price.

This is the number 26 on a genuine Rolex 6542 roulette date wheel (second pic in the diaporama):

http://www.chrono24.fr/rolex/1957-rolex-gmt-master-no-crown-guard-ref-6542--id6991157.htm

You'll notice that it's not left justified like yours, that the font is not the same, and that there is a huge difference in the quality of the printing.

There is no such thing as a 'GMT crown', and really, I'd love to know how anybody can tell that the insert is 10 years old - looks new to me. LOL.

Used car lot salesmanship at it's best folks - enjoy.

Oh, and here's that 'genuine Rolex' second hand - along with the other hands:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/GMT-1675-6...hash=item2a6dfa2678:m:mH7pCvbOIaCtBX17WqQijlg

Same lume, same color, same crappy application, same everything.
So... just gonna be blatantly honest here. If there are any truths to what you are saying don't you think privately messaging me as a concerned forum member would be a MUCH more productive and ethical way of handling the situation than bashing my build publicly?

Seems to me you are more interested in publicly bashing @TheSociety and his work than trying to look out for a loyal forum member.

Tact... class... compassion... could you pick one of those and try to exhibit it next time?

I've purchased a couple of super-Frankens from The Society and been extremely pleased, both with the quality of the builds and the price(s) paid. I got to know him a bit back when he first started really getting into the vintage Rolex scene- he's a true fanatic, incredibly knowledgeable about these pieces, and I don't think for one minute that his motivation for assisting in the creation of these builds is to make a profit-- given his occupation and earning power, he's almost certainly losing money by devoting time and energy to this hobby that could be devoted to his profession. It' really a labor of love, IMO at least.

Not this crap again..

Its totally not cool when you breakdown the parts that frankenbuilders use like that especially with condescending terms like "Used car lot salesmanship"

Imagine someone doing this for franken datejust builds that would be blasphemy! :(

No one builds a watch to sell at a loss. It takes time and effort to do it so trust me people are doing it to make money. They might love to do it but they ain’t doing it for free. ;) If they are caught lying about what is actually on the watch VS what they say is on the watch they are most certainly not doing it for free.

Ps I am one who loves movements and that movement doesn’t look clean nor serviced. There is nothing better than seeing an old dirty movement brought back to pristine condition again.

After months and months of TheSociety talking about building a couple of 6542's using genuine Rolex movements and him and I continuing to stay in touch about the progress of them, he finally finished the one I was in discussion with him on. Today it arrived!

I am blown away by his level of detail with his builds. This build is my second of two "keepers" from him, the other is my 6538 with a lot of gen parts as well.

Photos do this zero justice compared to how it looks in person but I thought I'd share what's a very special build and something I'll never part with given how increasingly rare these gen movements are becoming. If you've ever considered having TheSociety build you a watch that you'll hold onto, don't consider it, do it. Save up your money and have him build you the watch of your dreams. You can only wear one watch a day and I'm increasingly convinced having several really unique/special pieces is more rewarding than a dozen or two "every day" reps you can buy off the shelf.

Details:
TheSociety 6542 Caseset
TheSociety 6542 Gilt Dial (actually aged to a tropical over years not chemically aged)
TheSociety Bakelite Bezel (old stock 10+ years old with natural patina)
TheSociety Hour/Minute Hands
Genuine Rolex 1030 GMT Movement recently serviced
Geuine Rolex GMT Crown
Genuine Rolex Seconds Hand
Genuine Rolex GMT Small Arrow Hand
Genuine Rolex Roulette Date Wheel
RIDICULOUS chamfers

Enjoy!

I consider both @TheSociety and @tripdog to be friends, I have met with TheSociety and see absolute sincerity in what he builds, I'm Sad that two people I admire should have a conflict like this. I hope this can be resolved and the hurt feelings on both sides mitigated. You guys are the best and many people look up to you. We don't need a Blood feud here.

This is 100% true I know what TheSociety does for a living and he hardly needs the money. I have met him in person and been phone/text/email friends for well over a year. He is absolutely sincere and passionate beyond question.

@Thrasher I don’t think there is a conflict. @tripdog is flooded with PMs on watches built by many members and he’s asked to authenticate parts and prices. He’s just stating facts.

Update for all of you that read up on this thread. When I saw TripDog's response I decided to take the high road and not engage with him. I felt his brash approach at basically saying I was taken advantage of by TheSociety and was lied to was a bit ridiculous because 1) I've never had anything but positive experiences with TheSociety and consider him a friend at this point and 2) I'm not intending to sell this watch so opinions on certain parts in the build (without the full story) are somewhat meaningless to me because I know what I purchased and don't plan on selling it off to another member down the road.

TripDog did notice some things I can comment on -the font on the datewheel does look different. That's because the date wheel is genuine, but the actual date font was re-printed and is not original. The GMT hand DOES have a fresh coat of red paint - only because the condition of it was so poor that it had to be repainted. Simple as that. If TripDog would have paused, taken the time to PM me as a concerned (or annoyed) member and pointed out the above and asked if I was aware I could have kindly answered and clarified. I chose not to because I didn't want to reward such behavior that I find unfitting to the community that RWI used to be (and should be)... Folks learning from each other, asking questions, etc. Not folks making accusations on every build thread and calling each other names. It's unfortunate that folks can't be excited about a project and show it off to the community without fear of insults being hurled their direction from some folks who are very knowledgeable (TripDog) and some folks who are utterly clueless.

In the end- I know what I purchased - a watch like most of the watches we are passionate about on these boards - A mix of genuine Rolex parts and replica parts combined to make a beautiful piece of art that I plan on keeping forever.
