https://luxurywatchbuyer.com/produc...ic-watch-40mm-16610-v-serial-engraved-rehaut/

Look, there's even a 16610 LN that has the serial not in the middle of the minute markers. And it says it was serviced by Rolex in 2017, so must be gen right. I guess the nitpicking comes from the 116610 or 126610 with ceramic bezel always having it between minute markers?

Also I just noticed in a used watch store that a datejust that didn't have the serials in between minute markers at all, they were kind of randomly spaced like a badly aligned VSF

It seems gen rolexes always have the starting R always under the first minute marker aligned, but may or may not have different spacing on other parts of the R O L E X.

This misaligned first R + badly aligned R O L E X + badly aligned serial = I decided to get a 126610 or at least a different 116610. My QC showed all these issues and I don't think it will stop bothering me since no gen rolexes have that first R in the wrong spot as far as I know

Does any of this matter - surely the watch will still tell the time ?

The rehaut and serial number are a good place to look to detect gen vs rep. Apparently difficult for the rep factories to get 100% right. It cannot be seen at least by me without magnification. So if the rehaut is decent then I don't worry about it. I have come to realize that reps will have flaws so I got used to it.

Gods own country! Yorkshire.
Yeah it matters to many of us, getting details right is what this forum is about half the time

You need to start learning before making pointless posts. 5 digit models like the Sub you posted do NOT have serials between the ticks! And my friend and business colleague Mark does not sell fakes!
This isn’t the first time you have posted without knowledge of the subject you are talking about pal!

Interesting, even if you focus and know what to look for you can’t see it with naked eye?

Of course, there's a simple solution to the problem of an unsatisfactory rehaut, if you happen to end up with one where the R isn't where it's meant to be, or the serial number is off to the right a bit (both infuriating and instant RLs in my book).

You can easily remove the rep rehaut, and replace it with gen.

It's a fairly straightforward job - any competent modder can do it, or you could get a watchsmith to do it for you. Once you've sourced a gen rehaut (check Chrono24 or eBay), you remove the existing one. This can be done by removing the bezel, then the crystal, giving access to the rehaut. With care, the rehaut can be removed with the movement/dial left in place. But I'd recommend dropping the movement out, to make the job less fiddly. You'll need to get a rehaut attachment tool part no. 80085 (these are expensive from Rolex ADs, but you can get a cheap Chinese copy. I think Horotec do one too). Simply unscrew the rehaut using the tool, drop in the gen, and you're ready to rock your perfect rehaut.

Here's an exploded diagram showing the rehaut removed, and the tool:

Hope this helps! It saved my marriage.

I would stay away from the Chinese tools. Heard some horror stories of rehauts ending up even worse then from the beginning.

The gen rehauts are rare as hens theeths so If you stumble up on one grab it while you can!!!

Thanks for the info. I’ll give you a little insider info. I just ordered a 126610 Kermit vsf and the rehaut seems perfect except for serial. Seems like they are making good ones. All these pics are QC from this week.

126610 LN the R was too far left strangely

116610 the R starts too far right.

Rehauts on my gens are no better than the ones on my reps, many of which it appears should be rejected by those seeking perfection. Literally ridiculous.
