Okay, yes, the lume fill controversy. Let me let you in on the secret...
Both Rep and Gen vary in the puffiness of the fill from marker to marker! That's right. Unlike almost any other watch I own (about 15, mostly divers but a few fliegers, too, from $500-$5,000, mediocre lume to killer lume) the LHD is absolutely unique in that the lume is filled to near overflow and it's bare. There appears to be no lacquer or cover over the lume. It's like the watchmaker just pumped lume paste in until it was about to spill and then stopped. Of course, it's actually neater than I make it sound but the effect is for sure.
The upshot is that depending on which marker you are looking at on the Gen, the Rep markers could look a little flatter or a little puffier, relative to it. On my Gen, the difference is most obvious between the markers at 7 and 8. I will post this shot. So, my advice is to disregard lume fill as a tell because it's variable and unreliable. Rather, there is a more reliable detail that you can just about make out in the above side-by-side shot. Look at the lume markers again, their shape, and see if you can tell what it is. It is very clear and once seen, cannot be unseen.
