Piaget Dancer Automatic date
Piaget are often the forgotten heroes of Horology. Hugely prolific in the production of very fine in-house movements in mechanical and Quartz.
Consistently makers of the thinnest movements both Manual wind and Automatic since the birth of the 12p movement contained in this very rare Dancer mens watch of 36mm. The 12p introduced in 1969, an Auto wind movement of 2.3 mm thickness .5mm thicker than the world famous JLC 849 ultrathin movement, which was a manual wind! ( In the case of this watch add .5 mm for the extremely rare addition of date. ) The movement has micro rotor winding and is a 30 jewel movement . To get the thinness of 2.3 mm in perspective, an ETA 2824 is 4.6mm thick, a 7750 is 8mm thick.
The watch is one of my favorites and was made in 1995 The dial is simply exquisite
