Fun project...Rolex/Swatch "SWOLEX" collaboration

With the MoonSwatches and Swatch Fifty Fathom watches a big hit, a little playful riffing in the 1016 thread got me thinking...and when I get to thinking, it usually costs me money, time, and regret. I anticipate this will be no different.
A silly idea and some playing around in Paint, a $10 AliX case and a $30 NH movement, and whatever random hands and strap I decide on, and I'll be the first one on my block to sport the next, hottest watch, lol.

I think when it's done I'll list it on Ebay...just to see how fast I get a cease and desist letter from Rolex's legal staff, lol.

Or charged with homicide for all the heart attacks I cause there.

I dig the project.

Probably a waterslide decal, either on brass or a painted dial. Might get some really gaudy paint to keep up with the Swatch vibe.

I saw some dials on AliExpress will do custom text. That could be an option too

Yeah, I think they charge about $50 for the setup, then the cost of the dial. I'm hoping this stays in the price range of the Moonswatch/Blancpain reps, more or less.

you could :

remove the S from swatch
remove two dots from the crown 2nd and 4th

replace the swiss flag with the Michigan colours

you could try ordering a custom printed dial from Cronos, Corgeut or one of the homage brands that do Submariner NH35 homages.

I don't know that they'll do anything with trademarked or copywritten logos...plus it kinda turns this from a fun, silly project to a $100+ rep, and that's the last thing I want to do.

Currently, it's a $10 case, a $20 movement, a $2 NATO strap, $1 hands and a DIY dial that'll cost about $1 to make when it's all said and done. It'll be a beater for occasional wear, but probably will get worn a few times and relegated to the lowest tier of my rotation.

Basically, the cost of a rep Moonswatch or BPFF Swatch and the same spot in the hierarchy...a novelty that's cool to own but less cool to wear, lol.

The dial art is ready to go, will be mocking some up tonight, waiting on the case to arrive...cases, since the girlfriend wants one now as well.

She's currently sporting a pair of "Flamingo" watches I made her for Christmas, and a gen Seamaster Pro I got her when she got SCUBA certified...plus a pink Moonswatch and one of the BPFF Swatches (she likes Nudibranchs since she saw a few diving).



I'm currently putting together a Franken OP for her, since I stumbled into a good deal on a gen dial and bracelet (just need a case and a 2671 movement), but I can't have her collection bigger than mine, lol.





So far I'm about $150 into the project. Another $100 for a gen ladies' case and $100 for a 2671 and it should be good to go (I am planning on cutting down some DJ hands to fit, if that doesn't work, I'll need to source some).

First batch came out ok. A few flaws, but a couple keepers.

Waiting for the ugly plastic cases to arrive, but I can mount a movement and lume the dial while I wait. Tried it out in a Raffles case for fit.

Also hit it with a coat of gloss enamel, so will pop a bit more when it’s done.

I got the cases yesterday, I should have these done today or tomorrow. The cases are perfect...cheap, gaudy, and oddly well made. The bezels are unidirectional, and there are gaskets in the case, so it's presumably somewhat watertight.

I guarantee you, if you were to produce a clear Submariner case with a decorated Asian clone ETA in it, and a RELAX dial, you could sell tens of thousands of these watches. No, I'm not kidding!
