Which factory mate? That model may not really give you much improvement unless you’re talking about a gen movement

It’s a forum so opinions are part of it. But doesn’t make mine right! However, that GMT is so good out of Clean that putting anything other than a gen crystal probably won’t improve the watch from a viability perspective more than a nominal amount. If it’s me I put the money into a service and just enjoy the watch. I’d save gen bezel, dial, hands, etc for the Bruce Wayne, Pepsi, or vintage models.

Alright. Thanks for the info!

I think a clean Rolex is (besides a VSF Rollie) somewhat comparable to a VW Golf or Honda Civic in terms of the availability of parts and the vast modification ecosystem. It's the perfect starting point, so to speak.

So, if you hang out in our vendor area or the Rolex section, it would be almost impossible not to find a suitable modder.

When it comes to recommendations for modders to work on your build, it's like the old saying about opinions and buttholes—everyone has (a different) one. That said, if you spend time with our Rolex Franken gang, you'll get a sense of who's currently the go-to person for specific types of projects.

Unfortunately, as with the general science of purchasing reps, the art of modification also requires some reading and research.

I’m part of the "lame out-of-the-box" crowd, so I can't offer personal recommendations. However, as I mentioned, we have quite an extensive ecosystem with plenty of incredibly skilled individuals. With such an ideal model to start with, I’d recommend diving into some intensive research. You’ll quickly get a clear idea of what’s possible and who can help you achieve your frankening goals. Good luck!

I would franken it with a gen AR crystal + gen 3235 date disc first. These gen parts are relatively affordable (although still expensive). I said relatively affordable because gen 126710 dial/bezel are comparatively very, very, very expensive and rare.

If you want to keep the budget lower, I highly recommend a deep crystal upgrade for all Clean watches in general.
