Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Manny and would've loved to see him beat Marquez convincingly. Being a Filipino, I'm extremely proud of his exploits in the ring, a fighter his calibre doesn't come along in Philippines very often. But there are times that when a better fighter showed up, we should gracefully admit defeat.

Manny's body language shows defeat when he was getting back to his corner after the fight, his bestfriend and cornerman Buboy shows the same. I was surprised by his statement that he "clearly" won the fight, but still glad that he won. As what the rest of the commentators and the ringside fans feel, the result was as controversial as with the previous two fights.

Anyway, this is just how I feel watching the fight. As my wife said, Manny won and I was not the judge, so i should just be happy.

I've seen how Mayweather mocked and beat Marquez in their fight, with that performance, I don't know how he can beat Mayweather.

Agreed...being Filipino I'm a huge Manny fan, but Marquez had the better fight. He can't go up against Floyd with that. And he said he "clearly" beat Marquez to save face, because just like the last time he already knew what everyone was thinking.

little late to the convo but in more recent news, along with the huge debate on 'when' they should fight, Mayweather is shafting Pacquiao with a shit-ton of $$ ...

Pacquiao Says Mayweather Offered a $40 Million Flat Fee said:
According to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, he was treated like an opponent during last week's infamous telephone call with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao claims he was offered a $40 million dollar guarantee - but nothing further- for a welterweight mega-fight on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather would retain 100% of the money generated from pay-per-view, and other various sources of revenue. Pacquiao turned the offer down and requested an even 50-50 split, which Mayweather rejected.

“He said he will guarantee me $40 million but I won’t have any share on the pay-per-view and other sources of revenue,” said Pacquiao to veteran reporter Nick Giongco of Tempo. “How can he leave me out of the pay-per-view when I generate more than him in pay-per-view sales? I am still praying that Mayweather gets enlightened because I believe that I am not being unreasonable.”

And yes, I somewhat agree about the comments on the Marquez/Pacman fight. You could see it in Manny's face after they announced the winner that he was surprised/disappointed/undeserving of the win. Alas, as Pec said, you gotta know the points system, and fortunately for Manny, he was able to pull a win from that.

oh and I'm a Pacquiao fan :D
I just thought that the JMM/Pac fight was mediocre at best. Pac fought like the challenger and JMM fought like the champ....should've been the other way around.

I heard about Manny getting shafted there. If this fight ever goes down, Manny needs to be ready and fight a lot better than he did against Marquez.

Hmmm....

I have to say, as much as I hate Floyd I think manny is asking for too much. I mean a 50-50 split? If it wasn't for Floyd's unique business strategy in gaining profit off EVERYTHING manny wouldn't make as nearly as much. I would say 60-40 is fair.

ugh...this fight ain't happening anytime soon :(

here's what the line-up looks like:

Pacquiao vs. Bradley *most likely*
Floyd vs. Cotto - on the books.

Cotto seemed slow against Manny so he'll get obliterated by Pretty Boy Floyd unless his camp prepared for speed.....which I thought they already did prior to the Manny fight.

Bradley will be a snoozefest IMO. I just don't see him in that caliber.

I never thought they would ever fight personally. If it was gonna happen it would have happened already. Isn't manny going into politics soon?

I think he already is/has been. Member of congress in the Philippines, IIRC...

Yay for racism! God love this guy, because the entire world hates him.

cliffnotes: Mayweather puts down Jeremy Lin of NY Knicks because he's asian.
