NEW PICS! FLIGHTDECK STEEL BEZEL model, conversion done!

Hey Guys,

I know there is a couple of old threads I posted, but I thought I would create this one with just pics of the end product.(anyone need help with this, or a similar conversion, don't hesitate to PM me)

Originally, I purchased a black pvd flightdeck with carbon fiber dial from Rochest and Mary (Thanks Mirage). I also had the parts in silver to modify this watch into a flightdeck steel bezel 'model' (Check out uboats website and check out the steel bezel model. Its pretty much the exact same as that now. I did however, order a pair of silver chrono buttons as the top button was about ready to snap from trying to take off.

Items converted: Bezel ( of course, requiring the whole watch be disassembled so the old bezel can be knocked out) replaced crown cover with holder to silver, used new SS top chronograph button to use on the top (only item I didnt have but was ordered by Rochest in the end) button was a pain, being the SMALLEST clips to remove and re-add. There are also 3 real difficult screws to put in after the watch is assembled again. These three have little tabs so they catch the thread on the movement cover. Taking off is reasonably easy but putting on again was a pain (tab rotates as you try to screw them again (tiny screws, taken alot of time)

Real happy with the way it turned out. Heres some pics (note: custom carbon fiber with various stitching being made, and I requested silver dial, handset and markers be silver)

Stunning! This bracelet is awesome! You did a great job man! Any difficulties encountered during the assembly process?

Hey buddy, no real dramas doing the changeover. biggest thing I was worried about was not inserting the crown properly. Also, when u open the back, there is a circular piece of metal with scree tiny screws, screwing into 3 tiny tabs keeping the movement tightly in position. Getting them out was easy...reinserting them is the problem. Suggest to anyone doing this to unscrew the screws enough to be able to turn the tabs so the metal surround is cleared to remove and reinsert.

Hope that made sense lol:maty: Im having a custom strap redone to fit the clasp, (prob carbon finer) because this strap is rat shi@

I dont think they have had this model ever! Ive tried pretty much every site and person on the trusted list (they all have the watch listed, but after about 20 queries I had 0 hits)....at least 2 years since they had it, probably won't, I was told by one supplier that the good quality uboats aren't being made anymore due to small demand. After trying this legit model at a jeweller overseas 2 years ago I was on a mission. Lucky I had my old silver uboat to use as parts

If you don't mind me asking what was the final cost for making the watch? On the TD web sites that say they have this watch the price range is any where from 375USD to 258USD.

What I don't understand with the TDs is you can buy the watch in PVD or SS with 7750 movement you would think the factorys have the parts to just make the watch when ordered from a TD.

Exactly! They all list the watch (and trust me) the dont have it and ive been checking for 2 years. I first purchased the pvd with grey dials and handset (not the white version). The silver parts I had from my all silver uboat that I broke (nice crack through the back casing and some of the glass had chipped off)

Watch through Rochest and Mary cost me about AU$ 290 with delivery, and i ordered a silver button pair for $30! havent used the silver bottom button as the uboat flightdeck model on their site is black. So for me in the end, it cost about $350 including EMS delivery.

Im not for one to have cheap fantasy watches or what not, this is exactly what is on the uboat website and the the new A7750 has the regulator (might replace with an original ETA 7750, then its practically an authentic ;).

Another watch that I broke and cant find now is my thousands offeet black dial and white handset. For some reason it looks like they have discontinued on their website

Thats not a bad price and it does look like the one on the U-Boat web site. I have a few broken and unused watchs I might as well give it a go myself. Thanks for all the advice.

I just wish they made more 55mm U-Boats as I would like to make one at that size.

I tried a 55mm flightdeck with black dial at a watch seller in Melbourne near my place, all I could say is wow! I doubt they will make one. Look at all the bad varied 'classico' reps that should be 53, but are all 50's.

Heck, the 1001 should be 53 or 50, and it
It's only 50mm! Pretty crap reps but I do like the
U-42 with secs@ 53(or 55?) but I dont think I'd get away with the sizee on my.6-7inch wrist.
With the size on smaller wrist. My invicta a
Anniversary skeleton at 53 stil feels big and heavy too, but that's expected
The Uboat is pretty damn heavy too, but its my daily wearer. In

I'm pretty used to the flightdeck wait, although a u-42 in titanium might be next
