Then get something you can get in your hand and on target quickly. The answer is different for everyone, but I've found that the weapon you can turn 90 degrees quickly and still shoot accurately and comfortably, is the best for having fun on the range and protecting yourself when it counts. Although I will say that for home defense, a shotgun is best because it won't go through walls as easily as a bullet. And it probably won't kill the intruder haha -- save you some legal fees.

I've shot both and previously owned the PPQ. The HK was an instant fit after a couple of grip combos and just felt right. The PPQ took me a bit longer to get used to but the great (stock) trigger was right up my alley. I ended up having the trigger worked, lowering the pull from what was an already light feeling trigger down to just under 4 lb and to eliminate pre travel, much more suited to my type of shooting. I found the PPQ to be a little snappy, but many 9's are, more lift less push. In the end I ended up trading the PPQ toward a STI Tactical SS. If I had to do it over, I would again go with the PPQ.

You have to get both of these in hand as they are very similar...

Yep, non Cook County subs. The law in Chicago recently changed... You can now own a handgun in the city (cook county) after taking a training course, paying a fee and applying for a permit.

Boy did I get sidetracked. As a tac team guy, an avid shooter and a firearms instructor I got sucked into reading this thread. Some insightful information from some knowledgeable people. I will add a thing or two. Firearms, just like watches, can be a work of art and it is absolutely okay to buy one based on looks... BUT not if you are depending on it to perform a specific function. The right tool for the right job etc. etc.

YouTube can be entertaining even educational but take it with a grain of salt. Be sure to get proper formal firearms instruction and please do not rely on the keyboard commandos to teach you about firearms safety. That is one area where there is little room for error. Don't get sucked too deeply into the debates about caliber, stopping power, plus P plus plus plus blah blah blah. Spend all of that time at the range trying out different firearms to see what is a good fit and what options allow you to accurately deliver rounds on target. Have fun and most importantly be very very very safe. Oh yeah, also only by genuine firearms, never reps.
