Yeah I have my doubts and have since found a local watchmaker who'll be able to do it from now on but out of respect I'll refrain from speculating about this service. ..That and I still actually want to receive the watch...

Honestly, don't bother servicing. If they go wrong, get a service or if they turn up and they feel somehow off, get a service - otherwise just crack on. I'm about 100 reps into my watch journey and I've probably had 15 'serviced'. Actually, 'repaired' is probably a better description as there's normally been a specific issue that has been addressed - always accompanied by an oiling to get things running smoothly. And thanks to my repairer being a total lege (who's details will remain private at his request), the repair has cost between about £15 and £90 - normally closer to the lower number.

So I'd say just deal with issues as they arise. If you want to get them waterproofed, maybe get them lubed at the same time for eg. Otherwise just wear them!

My rationable behind servicing a new watch is because of plans to frankenstein them to some extent, to make sure they're not under or over lubricated and to have parts cleaned is just some peace of mind towards having longevity for them. I don't expect perfection from this particular service but I do hope it'll be in better shape than from factory as to not induce any initial excessive wear.
I don't plan on owning too many watches as I prefer to have a handful of frankens or super frankens instead. So each one will naturally see more use as I'll be rotating through them a lot faster than someone with 10s or even 100s of watches.
I also find the cost of servicing is quite negligible when compared to the thoursands dropped on gen parts for each watch, so for this, I find being proactive rather than reactive will help to not compromise the build from any initial issues, at the least.

Will do! Sourcing gen parts has become such a pain since brexit, though. Customs and VAT stings on gen dials in particular, so eBay and chrono24 are mostly out.

Yes, these were received 26th March.

To be doubly sure, I did tell him "I give green light for everything" prior to watch dispatch.

20th April Continued - I enquire about the strap. Response suggested that the factory missed it out. I say, "but you sent me QC pics of it, you must have it", then they reply saying they must have misplaced it and will arrange another piece.

Long sigh.............

Yeah, I understand there is patience to this stuff but when it holds up other processes unnecessarily it's a bit irritating.

In other news.... update on the Franken build for my 116519LN... 13 gen parts and counting! Parts for Rolex sports models are insanely expensive and finding WG variants even more difficult and pricey than SS!
Tempted to go for gen dial, found one at a good price (still talking 2000 euros plus customs) but the new meteorite dial with non roman numeral markers is more appealing, so thinking to hold off and wait for a rep of that dial instead....
