I got this watch today from a great member in UK. I wanted to have it from Toro but the waiting time was too much for me ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
The basic thought was to check if UPO crystal would fit this. I had one lying around from my old AR coating tests (actually I had this on sale some time ago but luckily no one bought it!).
So here is the watch as I got it. Well made, it feels just like my Franken UPO with almost all parts genuine! The bracelet is stunning and heavy! AR coating is basically as bad as in UPO. The crystal pops out in certain lighting but normally, no.
I was so in a hurry that I did not take many pictures of the process. Basically I took the movement out, took the crystal presser and popped the crystal out (tried with my fingers first but no luck, it was a tight fit!).
Then took the bezel insert off by just putting a sharp knife between the insert and watch case (there is a lot of space but just watch out for the crystal gasket). I went though a couple of rounds by just gently trying to get the tape loose. After 2 rounds the insert was so loose I could take it off. The tape is pretty well there so be careful with the insert. It is very thick but might break if you bend from one position.
The pearl was sitting very high, had to do something for it.
Here you can see how thick it is!
Now the pearl is reglued and sits just a bit above the insert surface. The pearl is not 100% centered in the triangle, but I can live with it.
The pearl was glued very tightly to the insert, had to do some serious work to get it moving.
Well, no more pics of the process. The Cr crystal is around 0.4-0.5 mm thicker than UPO rep crystal, might be 1:1 to a genuine XL PO crystal! I was thisclose to take the genuine crystal from my UPO but then thought to preserve it and see how this Cr looks like. The diameter is 1:1 to UPO crystal so it is a direct fit. UPO crystal sits a bit lower in the case but it is unnoticeable. You can feel it though because the bezel edge sits higher than the crystal - that 0.4-0.5 mm.
So now to the pics of the finished watch! I will take better pics in the weekend, these are taken with my Lumia. Here it is:
The crystal AR is a bit greenish but you really cannot see it most of the time because the reflection is so small. I would say the reflection is as small as a genuine Omega has.
The dial pops out so nicely! I will definitely keep this watch! I am so close to selling my Franken UPO, when I compare these 2, both look as genuine! Oh I am thrilled, OMG!!!
Thanks for your time!
