You can try the water drop test that is described in one of vaccum's posts. Although I tried this on the crystal of a Seagull powered PAM212 that I had. I'm almost 100% positive it was a mineral crystal, but the water beaded up on it just like a sapphire. So, take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks. The drop of water definitely beads. I'll just assume it's saphire until i break it
