I own the z faatory v2. Well put together watch aside from poor power reserve. Issue I have is not much is happening in terms of patina. I've work this watch daily the past 6 months and certainly it does not look shiny brilliant but at the same time really limited patina. I would call it a slight darkening of the metal with a few darker spots here and there. I have seen the analysis of the KW watch that shows it to be true bronze but why has not the z factory watch been tested? Everyone I show it to mentions it looks like brass rather than bronze. I will be surprised if this watch if and when tested turns out to be in actuality bronze.

How poor is your power reserve?

Off the wrist terrible. If I wind the watch before sitting it down .......not bad.

Unfortunately I’m only able to find one picture of the way it looked after first applying the patina:

And here’s one as it appears now:

Old thread but was curious if people were adding patina with chemicals, new to watches but used to work with mokume-gane and did a fair bit of work coloring metals.

Wanted to add that the following book is the bible of patination for copper alloys for anybody interested in the topic:

The Colouring, Bronzing, and Patination of Metals: A Manual for the Fine Metalworker and Sculptor

Liver of sulphur is a classic method but there is a huge variety of methods and colors achievable as well

I’ve sprayed it with seawater fir a couple of days but ultimately found it to “out there”.
Looked cool as an experiment though!
