For the love of god, is this the best we can muster-
that's the way it is?
it's always been that way?
A LOAD OF C~~K AND B##LS my friends.
we are the customers, we deserve better, we work hard, we've earned the right to squander our hard earned cash.
pick a dealer we can trust.
make an approach.
tell that lucky dealer exactly what we want and get him to quote a price.
i'm a businessman and i'd love to have a ready market just waiting to be satisfied.
let's force the issue
i'm bored logging on to read about some godforsaken attempt to rewire a rehash of a rethink.
WHO CAN WE TRUST!!!
To hell with the ultimate 183/111.
Let's make the flawless 183/111
lets get on board for the big push,we've all got to stick together until this peace craze blows over................

Just my 2 cents... I think the rep market is far from dead. In fact, it's still flourishing. If you are referring to specifically to Panerai rep, I believe there exists excellent PAM rep out of box. Just take for example newest version of modern PAM 092 or 186. They are a good beater and as far as accuracy is concerned, there exists minimum flaws. Another good example are PAM104, 164 or 229. For manual wind historic model, take a look at 111h or 112h. They are pretty close too. I agree the price is far from what we used to pay 2 years ago but then again it's what the market dictates. The bottom line is people still pay for them.

Coltrim I like the way you think but your preaching to the choir. I mean we can yell, fart, scream, jump up and down, kill a cat, hang a squirrel and ect. but it wont do much good unless no one is buying. These forums are a very small percentage of the Rep market sales, so you would need to get the word out to all the Thesbit Smith, traveling vacuum salesman, on a business trip in China, not to buy this crap!

Again, I like the way think! :D

All I'm asking for is a Ti 176 that keeps good time. If the Swiss movements have dried up, why is there not an asian movement that could fill the void? How many of us have ever actually used the Swan neck to make minute adjustments in the timekeeping of a rep? Has it ever happened?

I agree with the above, that if the swiss movements are no longer available, something else will likely turn up to fill the void. That being said, the replacement should at least look like the gen!

I'd rather have a nonfunctional swan neck than non-functioning cronos or a non-function power reserve indicator.

Just my two cents.

As someone else basically stated.... there are maybe a core of about a 1,000 members on these forums.... and about another 3,000 members who browse less than 5 times a year.... and another 5-6,000 on top of that who logged in.. then left to never come back...

The rep market are those buyers who buy because it says Panerai on the dial and don't even care about other details... we've seen those horrible cartel reps...

Let's take the submariner though... probably millions of them have been sold at this point right? so.... if mr. rep manufacturer spends X about of money on refining it... how much more is he going to make? the increased profit will not equate what he is already making on them.... he will lose money on the improvement as there will not be sufficient enough sales to cover the increased costs potentially...

Also.... and we discussed this at lunch today during a mini-GTG (Socal Family!) and this was our hypothesis.... what if those little flaws are planned? What if that is what makes the Rolex's of the world not care too much about ridding the world of reps.... it wasn't until that guy from Hublot (can't think of his name right now!) was handed a rep and he couldn't tell it was a rep that Hublot went aggro about finding reps... it's still the only rep hidden on Trusty's and Josh's sites...

Jean-Claude Biver

rep mistakes are imo just that, amd the degree of Biver's anger

would likely be nowhere as high at all were the HBB reps all canal street

trash watches...

just a thought..

as for rep ma4ket itsel.. many millionaires have been made through reps..

they not likely to stop anytime soon, it is a contest among millionaires, among

manufacturers and among dealers..

it was only a few years back when, with the right sources, one could buy an asian auto ss, tt, or full

for USD$8.00, and that watch would sell for close to ten times purchase price.. the only thing that has changed

is the better models available, and the higher price to consumer..

just how i see it.. others may differ in any and all regards..
