Got to talking with @themaxx25 today about reps and gens. I have quite a few gens, and many reps.

I brought up the topic of dying and thought what would someone think if I died and I wasn't here to help sort out the watches....

Fortunately, my sons are into watches and know about this "hobby". I have a list of my genuine watches, but after thinking about this, I'm going to keep a more comprehensive record of what each replica is, value, etc. otherwise this become a big pile of nothing. ( I told my son to basically log onto this site and reach out and I'm sure someone would help "dispose" of my reps)

Have you ever thought of this. Do you think your kids or family member would find your mother load and think "wow I just hit the motherload" 😂 😂 Christie's auction here we come!!

Do they REALLY know how much money you have into this?

Let's turn this into a Life-Coach question: what would you do with your reps if you had only one year to live?

I keep it simple for my family and friends to know:
- Top drawer = superfrankens
- Bottom drawer = gens
- Bigger plastic box = gen parts
- Smaller plastic box = rep parts

That will do! They can go figure.

If my superduper frankens are mistaken as gens and pass the inspection process by RSC/ Christie, then that would be a testament to my quality and dedication. I could finally rest in eternal peace knowing this. hahahaha

I think it is a very good question, and one I have pondered myself. First of all I don't want my family to be called out or even embarrassed for a rep either at a AD or on the street, while believing they were wearing a gen. So under each watch in my watchbox there is a small card with info about the watch like: Gen/Rep, year, model no, serial no, specialties (Titanium, tourbillon) and so on.
No one in my family is into watch collecting, so it would be a great help for them. But I don't have a great recycling of watches in my box, so that makes it easier, of course.

Family and S.O know.

If I ever have kids they'll know when they are old enough. I'll send my son to college with a ZF Tudor Black Bay 😂

This is an excellent idea!! I like this idea of a separate ID card in the bottom of the watch box!

Nothing like death to put things into perspective.
Yeah, mid 50s now and I'm starting to think about this stuff. I just had the crazy thought that there are people that die with a bunch of replicas, and these things are so good in many cases.

When my father-in-law died, we started finding all sorts of accounts, investments, life insurance policies. This was going through his mail and his paperwork.
He did not do a great job of organizing or keeping a record of what was what? It was a bit of a shit show.

I guess when I'm dead, it won't freaking matter anyway...... just curious if others here think about these things.

Easy, all is in my will ....

Mel gets everything, she has a list of what's exactly what.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the unlikely event that Mel goes before me her list will be binned, and I have also left a list of who gets what then ....

My son with my first wife gets the listed Gens with his name on them.

Mels 2 sons, get to pick 6 watches each from the remaining listed Gens and high end Reps

With the exception of the above and below, my dear disabled 19 year old (currently) Grandson gets all the other replica and genuine watches.

The step daughter from my first marriage, who is a greedy horrible lying carniving shit show bastard who tried to split Mel and I up when we first got together, stole from us etc etc gets my shittiest DHG replica (which actually does look the part), but is told it is Genuine in the will.

I will be watching from above (or below) to see her face when she tries to sell it.

I'm sorry about your experience, and sorry it gave me a chuckle.

I'm not, I put it there for everyone to have a good laugh :ROFLMAO:

Most families have at least one who is the black sheep, she was a pain in the arse when I first met her mother, and all through that marriage, we had police at our door, all kinds of undesirables visiting her, etc etc ;)

Short version of the story, Mel and I had been together a while, and she had been visiting us, coming out for meals with us etc etc.

One day she turned up at our Cabin at the Waterski Club with a gorgeous circa 20 's woman that was her neighbours daughter, and was wearing just shorts and a bikini top. It was a hot day, so I didn't think much of that.

I went out bare-footin' with the lads and when I came back the 2 girls headed off.
Mel seemed a little off, so I asked her, whassup ?

She asked me if there was anything she should know, and told me that aforementioned step daughter had told her I was seeing the young lady and had been for years.

I most definitely had not, and Mel, being a pretty good judge of folks made the correct decision and we had a good laugh about it.

I have never ever seen either of them again and have no intention of doing so.

OK, I love that. Did you just print these on business cards on your home printer or how did you do this.
Did you use a template to make formatting easier.??
I kept it easy. It is printed with a normal ink-jet on a A4 page of thick paper (same thickness as business cards, greeting cards, etc). Then I cut it with a sharp knife and a ruler.
Again to make it easy I just made a word document, draw a rectangle in the right size (to my surprise actually word and the printer did a good job of maintaining the size correct), I did one sample of it with all the text and a picture and then duplicated as many times as it fitted on the a A4 or Letter format. I can send you the template if you want but it is really trivial
