Hello all,
i've been reading of this black hole effect, i understood that is related to the gen crystal, AR or cyclops.

Could someone illustrate and explain better what is it?

Thanks

OP - the cyclope was introduced around 1954. There are theories that Hans Wilsdorf made the cyclope due to his wife that passed 1944 was not able to see the date clearly on her watch due to old age. AT first the cyclope didn't have the 2.5 magnify and not AR coat (anti-reflection). The last few decades or so the magnify strength has vary, so has the AR. Modern Rolex cyclopes do have the AR applied. Im no expert but please read this article, great reading :)

Wow. Nice example and definitely made me realize that if/when I get my TC, I'm gonna put a gen crystal in it. Thanks for your effort.

while you can see this effect on some of the reps the ar on the gen produces a much more pronounced effect. seeing it in person is required.

Yes seeing a couple of gens and a rep side by side will clear out any doubt.. But if I was one of them seeing no difference I would be happy to stay like that, I mean the more you know in here the more you spent eventually lololol

It's pretty obvious when u see it in person. For the REP, there's poor or no AR on the cyclops and you get all sorts of reflections on the date window. On the gen, you have a v clear view of the date.
