Curious to know if anyone has or knows of Replica Engagement Ring pointers.

Been looking a Tiffany's and Harry Winston's but at over £40k, I would sooner buy myself a used 911, and put the question off.

Any Pointers would be great!

Thanks

youll be hard pressed to find a halfway decent replica ring.

fake diamonds look like fake diamonds and fake gold looks like fake gold.

better off just buying a cheaper ring you can afford

A replica engagement ring could be a dangerous thing, unless she knows it is a rep...

I think the Charles and Colvard Hearts and Arrows series would be as good as it gets, but they are not exactly cheap. But a fraction of real (about $1k for 1 ct.) Like the watches, if you are flaunting a ring that cost 50k, wearing a Walmart outfit, driving a Kia, it wont fly...

Yea i wouldnt go that route if i were you.

I have heard of people getting a copy of their ring made years alter and wearing that day to day with the real one being in the safe, but proposing with a replica ring is definitely not a great idea. My suggesting is buy a good quality stone that you can afford. Then take it to a jeweler and have them create the ring you are looking for. There are a ton of jewelers that can do custom work for you. It will be significantly cheaper for you to go this route than buying direct from Tiffanys or HW. When you buy from these places i would say that at least one third of that cost is for the name brand.

I'd rather buy a low end real diamond engagement ring than buy a fake high end engagement ring. Because the low end real diamond will still have value.

I agree, I didn't know if there were places that replicate a Tiffany or a HW, without the price tag. You'll look like a tit, if you say its a genuine, but if you said its very similar with a better quality stone from a wholesaler I cant imagine that been a problem with her.

Ive checked out Charles Colvard, but they all seem a bit too cheap . Ive just dont know this sector of the market, and dont want my pants pulled down!

Have you checked out kay or Jared or even a local jeweler? You can’t go to a place like Tiffany’s and not expect to get pegged in the back end to distract you from your wallet being stolen by the workers

If you are talking about real stones, its not considered a replica right? So it can be a Tiffanies inspired ring or something along those lines. For example, my wife really liked Tacori rings back when we are dating. Once i found the center diamond (separately) i asked a few jewelers to design a Tacori inspired ring, even gave them a picture. But alas we ended up going a different route. Unless you have **stupid rich** money laying around, i dont see a reason to buy from one of those places or better yet buying the complete ring together. You can get a much much better deal in buying the stone separate and finding/designing a beautiful setting for it. I am sure you have a jewelers row or something similar near where you live right (Like a part of town with many jewelry stores), just take a walk through those stores and see if there are any settings you like and ask if they are able to make you custom settings.

This to a T.

You can custom make rings with real diamonds and real precious metals that are inspired by whatever it is you like. Or you can buy a ring that is from a "lesser" company that are similar to what you are looking for.

Similar to Ruski, my wife loved the Tacori rings but me being in school still and not having a well paying job, couldnt afford the $20k ring from them, but found one that looked almost exactly the same design with a high quality centerstone and same materials for a fraction.

And no one cares what brand your ring or jewelry is. No one has ever asked her if its a tacori, a tiffany, etc. Even her actual Tacori Earrings. no one knows jewelry brands like they know watch brands.

Absolutely! You know what makes the ring look good? The center stone. That should be your primary concern. Get a good center stone and build around that. If the stone is good, you will be getting praise for years to come. Good luck!!! lol

I guess a trip to Belgium to the Jewish Diamond 1/4 is in need, get the same stone or better in the HW ring she likes, then get it set in a band. Leave the HW ring up on a open browser, and let her assume its the same!

I dont want a cheap ring, happy to spend £20k, but deffo not £40k!

You can buy loose stones in hatton garden and Birmingham's jewellery quarter, probably other places too. Just buy a decent quality stone then get a decent local jeweller to design and make a setting for it.

yeah, I agree with the above. Buy a real stone separately, and build around it. You will save some $, and end up with a much nicer stone. If you make friends with a few jewelers, pretty soon they will start offering you wholesale prices. You could always go the manufactured stone route, but those don't hold value as well, even though they are 99.9% the same chemical composition. A high quality diamond will rarely depreciate in value. I would be more inclined to do manufactured or man made diamonds for an anniversary ring or something like that. In my typically pessimistic viewpoint, you want to make sure that you can get your money back out of it, if the situation turns to **** before you say "I do".
