How long does (or should) it take for the dealer to email you an EMS tracking number after ordering? On Monday I got an email saying that the watch I wanted would be sent to me. Today is Friday. I would assume that you get an EMS # as soon as you drop off the item to be shipped, am I wrong? I ordered from Hont, fyi.

It's not always automatic. Email Hont and ask for tracking info, but DON'T BOTHER TRACKING EMS. You will only get frustrated and confused, and you watch will arrive when tracking shows it in China or Customs, or in transit to Greece, or delivered to Australia, or... you get the idea.
But get the tracking # from Hont so you can give it back to him if your watch has not arrived after a month.

Thanks, for some reason I thought the dealer automatically sends the EMS # when ordering.

EMS = ... errrr haha

You'll learn not to even bother worrying about it.

- most of the time, EMS updates are useless once the package hits the US.

Yeah, I've read that they're not very useful, but I want to know that the watch was actually shipped and when it left.

I should know better, but will still look for tracking updates. But after it seems to have left GZ (or HK or wherever) I will look at the USPS tracking portal, not EMS. That is somewhat more accurate.

True true,

then again... I've been told my watch is in customs ... as the mailman is driving up my driveway ready to deliver it.

:)

once it hits the states I normally give up tracking it.

Because of the holiday it is possible they haven't shipped yet. Just be patient.

Another thing to know about tracking nos is that this is just the number on the document.
Now the dealers all have piles of these documents sitting on their benches, so even if you have a number, it doesn't mean it has been lodged with EMS! ie It is on its way.

I have even seen times when a dealer has issued a tracking#, then mixed up the documents/bags, and my tracking number ends up in another country!!
So even a tracking # is not telling you a hell of a lot.
(Except that the dealer has your order)
Sorry to let facts get in the way of anyone using or relying on these numbers.

Hont emailed me the tracking number. Apparently the watch has passed through customs in China. Can't wait to get the watch!

Thanks for your replies...this is indeed a unique business!
