Got it all together in the milk case, but its definitely too tight. The pinions aren't able to movement from pressure on the dial. Back to the drawing boards.

Milks movement ring isn't going to work in my case. So im going to trim down a cartel ring, height-wise and see if I can get a more natural fit, without putting so much stress on the assembly.

Have you looked at the Milk raffle thread for some holder ideas? IIRC people are using a Helenarou holder but ofc you could mod one.

I did see that yes. Just what I want to do wait another 3 weeks lol but honestly the fun is all in the journey.

I have a couple cartel rings to play with so with some elbow grease I should be able to get it settled. I tested one and it does fit the diameter of the opening around the movement. Height will taken down and possibly some notches cut for the clamps if the beveled edge of the ring doesn't have enough clearance.

I don't have a picture of it, but the main problem with milks 2836 ring, in MY situation, is it has a lip on the inner side that I'm guessing is designed to grab onto the movement higher up towards the rotor side, if this lip is sanded off the thin ring will drop all the way down to the dial and there will be TOO much clearance, the clamps won't be sandwiched and the whole shebang will move around inside.

in my case there is not enough clearance. I had to sand the clamp cutouts down so much that they are needle thin and I still had to force the tabs in between the ring and the case. Doing so applies the pressure to the dial.

Got a movement ring modded and it fits okay, no wiggle that I can tell and not too tight.

However, my feet broke off. So I re-glued the dial feet and the spacer to the dial aswell.

Unfortunately at around 7oclock the hour and gmt hand stop moving when setting time. Reset the gears with the crown but no joy.

I have to take it apart and look at the pinions to see if they are moving all the way around freely without the dial.

I'm still following you on this journey! Hopefully this isn't a major issue because I love what you have going here.
Its almost there. If the movement took a crap, ill just get a Hangzhou.

This one is "swiss" 2836 from Trusty.

The whole assembly was great worked fine in the bp case. Wore it around for a few days before I got the milk case.

I'll get it solved!

Well, here we just about are. I'm nursing my wisdom tooth extraction wounds today and was feeling sprite, so I tackled this pain in ass, for the most part.

My hour hand pinion ended up having some teeth broken off. Luckily I have plenty of old shitter movements lying around for parts.

The movement is mounted in my case with my modded cartel ring, fits well, no slack.

My new clarks two tone rootbeer insert is in after a short flambé in the skillet.

Its on a Dublin nut horween strap.

Some small things left to do.

-glue xtal and bezel ring down w/ GS HYPO

-get a gen gold 5.3 crown
(anyone need a gen gold 6mm?)

-clean my dirty ass xtal

-maybe pickup a spare hands set, I beat the hell out of these. Need softer tweezers.

Really nice looking result bro, well done! Way to hang in there through the inevitable curveballs in rep buidling.

The insert really looks good, you got the cook time perfect, haha.

For hands, get yourself some plastic tipped tweezers. These are slightly pricey but will pay for themselves the first time you don't have to buy a new hand set.

Thanks man! This should have been called the banana fosters 16753.

My handset tweezers are basically that, however I think they are just plain old nylon, not delrin.

I wouldn't have thought nylon could tear up plated hands, but they sure did.

Try making yourself pick up hands only by their side edges. It's not that hard with wide tip plastic tweezers. I use Rodico squeezed into a tiny point to pick up a hand that needs to be flipped over. After that nothing but the hand press tip touches the top flats of my hands.

Yes, rodico, thats what I need to do, and to slow down. I'm always in a rush. But even when I'm having to strip everything down multiple times for troubleshooting I need to take more care. It can always wait a little longer.

That's a very good look bro. Insert is sitting too recessed tho.
It's a wso "1675" insert
That doesn't fit in a wso "1675" bezel, Lol imagine that, it needed to be sanded quite a bit which ended up being too much then of course it just plopped in like that but it's atleast pressure fitted. Doesn't bother me too much and the way I change inserts, it won't be in there for long.

The amount of bad wso parts I've had over the years is stunning.
