Problem with ebay in Eu is the rising of local selling platforms that are easier to use and cheaper for the seller as Vinted, Wallapop et al.
Most of the private market is now off ebay.

There is a "message a specialist" button under the main picture, with the description: "Our luxury watch specialists can answer questions you have about your next watch purchase."

I have not seen or noticed that before, maybe it is another avenue to follow. If the specialist is employed by ebay then perhaps they would be inclined to listen, assuming their specialists knowledge covers the difference between 5 and 6 digit subs...

EBay’s in trouble for sure, not policing these listings is wrong. I sold on eBay for years, 24 iirc, I have just ended all my listings, as come feb rules are changing. We won’t get paid until item confirmed as delivered, and buyers will have to pay a fee to purchase, so I think platform will die soon.

Oh my it’s all about the fees these days and less about the customer service, regardless of what it is…they are doomed I think

Never bought a watch from Ebay but surprised to see that there's no authentication on this piece.

Presume seller opted out?

Also import fees, which you pay at checkout and again when the item arrives in your country because ebay can't communicate with the Customs offices of each country - it's logistically impossible to do so.
Also the fees associated with selling, they even take a % of the shipping fees you paid, so if it cost you 30 euros to ship your item they take 3 euros of that, so as a seller you lose even more money.

Reporting items as counterfeit is a complete waste of time, they never remove the item from sale. I've never noticed the 'expert' before, I just asked him a very simple question:

Hi, Please explain how what is quite obviously a counterfeit Rolex is listed for sale on ebay - the model reference number isn't even correct.
Thanks.

It doesn’t matter the brand as I’ve seen so many poor Rep Breitlings over the years and reported but nothing happens.

They have ”experts“ which is a joke and just a marketing gimmick as it doesn’t mean anything

I’ve been using eBay on and off since the 90s, when I had an account well before I should have being a kid.

I’ve used it to sell collections of items and stuff like phones which were not needed.

I had issues with a couple of eBay sellers on less expensive watches and Rolex parts 5 or 6 years ago and eBay always did right by me in the end. Note that timeframe.

I also bought a brand new gen Longines from a jewellery store (I vetted it - they had a B&M shop) seller in Italy just before Brexit finalised. It saved me a lot of fees and this was just as the Pandemic was getting nasty - the price was superb. Everything went fine on that one.

A lot of water under the bridge between now and then as far as that platform, and I would never buy a serious timepiece from eBay today. Parts - maybe.

"What happened:
We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made by a customer service agent."

:ROFLMAO:

I didn't really expect a real reply - these may actually be automatically generated as the time lapse from reporting to it being rejected are always pretty much the same - but 4 reports in less than an hour, all rejected. Shows how untrustworthy ebay has become.

Authentication in U.K. is mandatory for any watch item over £1500,

These authentification checks are worthless, plenty of stories have been posted of watches going to strange places to be 'authenticated', only being on the premises for a hour or so. It's all bullshit.

This. I stopped Reporting stuff for A) this reason and B) eBay threatened to close my account because of the amount of reports

How many reports were you making - should they be calculated on an hourly, daily or weekly basis ?
