I think so. I think it's a great looking watch. So far it's running great and keeping good time.

I think it's a good deal compared to some hommage's that are out there. I contacted a couple makers and they want well over 500 for their hommages. THAT is too much.

funny question.

the gen watch costa about 35.000 - 40.000

here you get a great rep, swiss mvmnt, filled indicies, real safire crystal, great engraved caseback......for about 1 % of the price.

is it worth the cost ? no, i would recommend to only buy the gen. because thats worth the cost.

sorry for being sarcastic.

sweet, i just bought 10 patek grand complications because they are only 0.1% the cost of the gen, so they must be good!

upod,

dont compare Panerai and Patek....gen Patek is extremly complicated.

gen Panerai is not.

if you open your 40.000 $ gen 203A you will fall on your ass.....an almost naked ETA 6497.

DVSN delivers out of the box a great watch....for comparably little money. i dare to say.

That's one of the main reasons (besides size) that I love PAMs based on the 6497; you are getting an item very similar to the gen.
Functionality will be the same, appearance similar, personality much the same.
Love the PAM winders.

i agree with the above. early, and neo richemont watches with the standard 6497 movements are basically the same as the genuine article. there are no bells and whistles what so over.

looks like by the crown guard you got a dsn case.

question, when you pull the crown to set the time, is there a little notch in the case?

my argument is the price of the gen has nothing to do with the price of the rep, and it has more to do with the quality of the rep.

keep that in mind....US based companies are charing 400 - 500 $ to DLC ( similat to PVD ) coat a Pam watchcase. alone !
then you buy a crystal, a swiss movement, CG, crown, you sit down and superlume dial and hands, adjust the movement,
make and install a nice caseback, etc....

all together costs less then the coating alone.

i love my 400 $ Pams....

Well, DLC is a more durable coating than PVD and a more expensive process to apply it to the parts, as I understand it. So let's compare apples to apples.

The absolute cheapest I've ever seen *any* PVD service offered is $150 for one case set. So:

PVD -- $150
Luminor style case set -- $70
Dial -- $40
Hands -- $40
Swiss 6497 -- $180 (what I recently paid from Ofrei for an undecorated Swiss 6497)
Tall cannon pin/hour wheel -- $40

Total - $520 -- and that's without paying anyone to assemble it for you, not including a strap/buckle, etc.

So, I'm with h_u on this one, while $400 is not a small amount of money, you'd be hard pressed to build an equivalent watch for the same money, let alone less.
