My DSN 203a arrived monday. It actually got here saturday, I just wasn't around to pick it up. It looks great. The strap needs to be replaced immediately. Gotta wait for next payday. :) I love the watch and the service was good. Super fast shipping and he always answered my emails. But damn the lume is awful. It's dim as hell and it lasts maybe 15 minutes. I can definitely see myself trying to find someone to re do the lume. I told him I wasn't happy with it, but no response. Other than the lume, I have no complaints. Here's a piss poor picture. (No light tent here)

i think its a damn goodlooking watch.

also i think ( not 100% sure ) that the gen with the filled indicies also does not have great lume.

if i am not mistaken, this model is a Pre V - so it would be 20 -25 years old, and lume would be weak - even if gen.

enjoy your new watch, and be happy everything else on it looks great and works.

The lume is weak on the gen and the lume is under the varnish, so if you re lume it, it will look more incorrect most of the time.

Huh. That's very interesting. I really love the look of the watch and I'm very happy I got it. I'm not a Panerai expert so I dont know if the fonts are right or the crown isn't thick enough. I just know that it looks great. I'm just a fan of bright lume. (Lum-tecs are a little overboard though) BUT I would rather that it looked period correct. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, 15 year old tritium wouldn't have a ton of glow left to it.

Overall that's a damn fine looking watch. Can you take a straight-on pic of the CG side of the watch? I'm wondering if this is using a "standard" rep case or one of DSN's own cases....

Great choice... Surprised about lume--I have 4 DSN's and the lumes are excellent... I guess I'm lucky. He should do something about that for you... At least send new dial.

Good luck.

Hooligan, I'll get you a pic later on today. I'm curious about that as well.

Speedster, it set me back about 420, I believe.

Damn..... Just when I thouth I had enough Panerais..... What a fine looking watch. What's the durability of Davidson's PVD? Also, what movement is in it to justify the $400+ cost?

He said Swiss movement. I think the cost lies in the fact you can't get it anywhere else. The PVD seems tough to me. I've been wearing it all week and haven't had any issues. Of course I haven't worn it working on my car or filmed an action movie. :)

It's not crooked, someone ground too much off that side. Contact Davidson and get a replacement CG that measures the same on both sides. I'm suprised he even spent any effort on that part as it's obviously messed up.

Hambone, yours is the reason I got the 203a. :) Bad thing is now I want a fiddy. Trying to decide on who to buy from. Anybody has any ideas PM me. I had no idea ONE rep would lead to needing more.

You might ask Davidsen if he can build you his esrly 'ultimate' fiddy that I got 2 years ago. It has the 'H' movment in it which is what you find in the 217 Marine Militare 47mm destro. It is an awesome movement and his fiddy is the best out there, except no longer available with the 'E' movement. It is a tell of sorts, but I have taken mine off and showed it to gen pam owners and they don't know what they are looking at for the most part. It is easy to get really anal about
accuracy, but sometimes I guess you have to get the best of whats available.

This could also just be a case of being screwed on in the wrong position. Loosen up the screws for the CG and try torqueing in the direction to even things out. Usually there is enough play in the CG screwholes to allow you to adjust the position relative to the case, both parallel to the case and forward-backward.

It's really nice and I like the DSN dial with the varnished lume the way it is. That's a keeper...

You're right. When I made my comment thinking that it was mis-shapen, I was thinking it was symetrical shaped like the bottom.
