I just started golfing and when i told some friends that I read that wearing a watch when golfing damages it they looked at me like I was mad.

Does it damage automatics?

IMO there is a tremendos amount of shock to the wrist that is transferred to the watches movement. I personally do not wear one while shooting golfs.

I seem to recall reading a general "do's and don'ts" thread on here that suggested wearing a rep whilst playing golf was not recommended. Something to do with the impact shock.

This, however, has not stopped me wearing reps whilst playing. In fact, I once had a movement issue with a Rolex rep that was cured after a round of golf!

This has been discussed a great deal on other forums. Not a good idea to wear an auto while golfing- might as well wear it while using a jack-hammer too.

What about Watson? No one swings harder at the ball than Bubba and he wears a watch.

This point is also why alot of wealthy golf pro's have tourby movements. But we're talking about reps here, I wouldn't wear one. Plus I think its uncomfortable.

I haven't seen many pro-golfer wear watches while golfing, in fact none. I wouldn't recommend it.

I've seen Mickleson wearing a Cellini while playing and Tiger used to wear a Tag but I think that company dropped him after he got caught playing a few extra holes :lolcina:

I always wear one. No problems for me yet. My driver swing speed is pretty slow though. It's only 109mph.

Well I asked the same question and came to a compromise, the ultimate rep golf watch:

Tiger Woods Golf Watch (sorry no pic)

Virtually gen
Quartz movement same as gen (Oh no? What no shock reaction... yes)
rubber band CLASPLESS very comfty

silix had it for $130 best value ever

Just don't ask me how I golf... I need lessons bad, anyone in sin city interested hit me up I need to take lessons :lolcina:

Why wouldn't you? If a Navy Seal can do $hit with one on, why can't an average mo wear one playing?

It doesn't effect my swing. I forget about it half the time.

I find a watch is a real distraction while golfing. It messes with my tempo. I know it's all in my head but so are most issues with a swing.

I'm not a golf expert but Im sure this is the reason why pro golfers don't play with it on. No matter how well the watch fits your wrist. The watch will affect the feel of the swing.

I wear my Traser. Light weight, quartz movement, and in a Zulu so I can keep it from sliding when I swing. I always wear it, so no effect on my swing.
Same with shooting rifles - always quartz and usually a tough beater watch.

I think that's the newest generation that's why it's a little more. But it's so gen that it's still a great value.
