Do you guys buy reps of super high end watches

I usually only buy reps of watches that i could legitmiately afford with some saving. I havent yet bought a rep of any watch that retails for over 20k for example. I am thinking about buying a rep of a super high end watch, but part of the allure of buying a rep to me is having it be believeable that imcould actually own the gen of that watch. Any opinions?

Just make sure you have your Doritos fodder, all the rest is secondary.

Not really. I usually buy reps I can afford with savings. However, if you like a particular watch , I say go for it!

It's funny, I love watches and my family all know that Im the watch guy, but I don't think they would know if I was wearing a 50k Patek or a 5$ timex. But Personally I stay within a some sort of reasonable price.

It all depends on what your reason is to collect reps. Do you buy them as status symbols or because you like them?

I buy reps that I like and find appealing to me. I have no worries telling people that I wear reps, it's a beautiful watch no matter what. So I rather wear a rep of a watch I can't afford, then being cheap and by a rep of a 5k watch. :-D

I agree with the family bit 100% I would also add the I don't think people would know if it were a gen a watch could be $50K, ie, they don't know the difference between a $5K IWC and a $50K Patek.

I've never really thought about it to be honest, as in i've never told myself to stick to certain gen budget etc.

That said i get what you mean, most of watches are ones that people wouldn't question me on the authenticity of it in the position i'm in at 22, 8k hublots, 6k rolex's etc, that said i recently bought a daydate and as amazing and i really mean it the reps of these are really nice, i just didn't feel comfortable wearing it and sold it on as i want to enjoy wearing watches not want to hide it everytime someone takes a look!

I guess it's also dependent on the brand of the watch, for example i didn't feel comfortable wearing a 30-40k rolex rep but yet i have an a.lange & sohne datograph that is one of my favourites and i'm always comfortable in that and they're 50k or so? but noone has a clue, it looks like an expensive watch but the vast majority of people my age wouldn't know ALS!

I've got the new AP rubberclad on the way - my first AP aswell! - and to be honest i hadn't realised the rrp of the gen's of these, i think i will feel fine after i've had the cyclops modded etc but we'll see. They're becoming a lot more popular in UK recently so more and more people know about them so i'm slightly worried i might find it uncomfortable to wear.

That said the RGRC is one of my grail watches so i'm sure it'll be fine.. but then so was a rolex DD.

Yes, no one noticed. if they did they didn't comment. Actually I got many complements from friends and family on my ROO Pride of Mexico and they were all good, none of them asked the price tag or recognized the brand. They all know I couldn't afford it too.My cousins would definitely call me out. Buy what you like, and enjoy the watch.

Also i want to add, if there were super reps or at least well made accurate reps of super high end watches i would 100% buy them but most of the, for example patek 'high end reps' are all fantasy and nowhere near the real thing.

I understand when you say the daydate was uncomfortAble to wear. I have a gen yellow gold daydate from 1982-83 I think, (inherited from my grandfather) and I think I wore it maybe twice in two yrs. It sits in the bank. It's not the comfort of the watch but the fact its solid gold and someone who would want to take it would be drawn to it. . I rather wear a watch that doesn't draw unwanted attention. I like when I get comments, "nice watch" "wow never seen one like that" or "wow that's a big one" that's what she said lol. But I rather fly looooow key.

I don't bother about how others think of my watch, they can think whatever they wanted to but i wear the watch for myself. As long i like the watch, i will buy it.

I don't care , if I like the watch, I'll buy it. I don't wear recognizable brands anyway so most people have no idea what the price tag is.
If someone is crazy enough about watches why couldn't they buy a 20k watch ? You pay $30.000-$40.000 for a car, if you like watches more than cars, why couldn't you get a watch on a 3 year payment plan like you do with your car ?

Damn, have any pics of it? Yeah exactly that's what i meant, the watch isn't actually uncomfortable haha but it's more how obvious of an expensive watch it is, even someone who doesn't know watches would see it and be like holy shit that looks expensive.

And as you say it's guaranteed to attract the wrong peoples attention, whereas a PP or something similar will fly under 80% of most peoples radars so if there were super reps of a nice PP on a croc then i'd no doubt be straight in there.

Who cares what anyone else thinks, even if you had a 30k gen on you wrist most would think its probably a rep, if they even recognised the make.
I've owned several gen Rolex's including a 18ct day date and most times was asked " is that real"
I'm gonna enjoy wearing my new Rubber Clad Ap, do I care what peeps think, Do I hell

Ask yourself this... Do I wear this because I like the design of the watch, or do I wear it to impress others.

Another way of determining your motives is to ask yourself... can I wear a homage if one is available?

For me, I opted for the Getat PAM homage because I would never spend that much for a watch, but like the design.

I think back to before i found this site or googled rep watches and being honest i had no idea how good fake watches could be, and i assumed it was just brands like rolex that were faked.

I know thats naive but i didn't know better and i'm sure a lot of people don't know you can get fakes of brands like hublot or AP and they definitely don't know how good they are.

I've never been asked if my watch is real, apart from close mates who know i have both gen and reps and wonder which one this new one is haha.

That said, for me it's not a fact of caring what others think.

Got any more pics of the rubberclad mate? waiting on the QC pics for mine and getting impatient :lolcina: wanted it for xmas day but that's got a zero chance of happening now.

You going to mod yours at all?

Funny..I'd stay away from a Richard Mille that costs more than my house, but I REALLY like an understated JLC Tourbillion that costs more than my house (and I'd love to own the rep).....
