Got an Orange Hand Explorer "McQueen" Model from PureTime and the date wheel was horribly misaligned. I got it on the 23rd and just so happens this was the worst aligned date of the whole month, the 23rd! Part of the 2 was actually hidden behind the laft side of the date window.

Anyway I emailed Nikki and got what I hope is a "canned" response suggeting I have a "local" watch person take a look at it. Not happening so I sent it back for repair/replacement.

Anyway to send it and get a tracking number You have to use Express Mail which is like $30, so I just sent it first class.

My question is this, if Customs does get it and keep it do I get notified or is it just bye-bye watch?

Also the dealer's who guarantee Customs losses, I'm assuming that's only for the watch coming to you...right?

Learned another lesson, QC pictures. I requested them and only got one, a fuzzy picture of the watch on the timing machine showing +9 seconds/day. Next time I want to see the date window from straight on with a single digit, teen digits, twenty-something digits and the 31. Not again!

Shipping from THEIR side is covered, and as you said "your shipment" is in no way covered.
Especially since you didn´t send it EMS to get tracking ID so you will be royally screwed if it gets lost and I know puretime/angus/nikki specifically ask for a tracked shipment when you return watches.
So lets hope it works for you this time but expect everything between 2-4 months before you see your watch again. (if your lucky..)

And sorry to hear about the datewheel, pretty sure they dropship from china without to much QC before shipping and with puretime you must ask specifically for QC pics before shipping, so next time around I suggest go with Lay/replicamake since he gives some outstanding QC pic´s and video before shipping by default :)

Hope it works out for you.

Did that, this is all I got. Since this was my first transaction I didn't want to be a huge PITA. Also they are a "Trusted Dealer" here so I wasn't expecting something like a REALLY badly aligned datewheel.

Also does EMS have shipping centers in almost all cities?

Here's the Datewheel. Funny (funny bad) thing is the date I received the watch, the 23rd is probably the worst aligned date on the wheel. If I had received the watch on the 1st it would have been a couple of weeks before I noticed this........

I don't think ReplicaMake had this model with the straight second hand..............

Here's the fantastic QC pic I received. Got dropped from the earlier post because I reorganized my pictures. Now I know why so many people have broken links to pics.......

EMS = The express courier service of your local postal service.
I think you will find they have an office near you :)

Now I know this. Got my first packages from China a few months ago with the Chinese EMS logo and writing. Just thought it was a Chinese Company. After all, had a website and everything!

Just another acronym that will get you since everyone says EMS not Express Mail Service. Also the dealers say EMS not Express. Could be a good idea for them to state USPS Express Mail for the noobs like me?

Nope, because it's not USPS Express unless it originates in the USofA. Why would it be refered to as USPS Express Mail if it comes from China?

If you mail EMS from China it's EMS, from the US it's UPS Express Mail, from OZ it's Australia Post Express Courier. There are some 140+ postal services around the world who jointly own the EMS network (which is head quartered in China BTW), some refer to an EMS service originating from their own country as EMS (China, Thailand and others) and some have their own name for it.

I was talking about when the dealers give return instructions, as they know where we are and what it's called here. I'd expect them to be the experts in this, nit the buyer. Same in any business I've operated.

Well, you expect too much mate.
We are talking little mom and pop outfits in China here, some of them would be lucky to know what the postal service is called let alone it's various services. You are not buying from Amazon here you know.

Besides, EMS is a perfectly correct term. USPS Express is EMS.

I think we've about beat this horse to death. My point is the dealers are in the watch business and the shipping and receiving of goods is integral to that business. Just like they have to have someone with fairly good English skills they have to have someone with shipping knowledge.

If you asked 100 Americans on the street what EMS is they would all reply Emergency Medical Services. If you then said "no it's a form of shipping, do you have another answer?", they wouldn't know.

I only "figured" it out here after trial and error. I don't think it's too much to expect for a dealer to say "use Express Mail Service" when returning an item from the US. After all it probably makes up a huge percentage of their market.

Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree.
