Right guys new to posting so dont flame me but I have heard hugely different accounts of DG2183 21J reliability from downright crap to hugely reliable. So far ive had one crap movement from around 6 or 7 reps with a dg2183. Let us know your horror or success stories regarding the most common movement on the market.

Glad to hear it! I believe there are official DG2813 movements and also copies of varying quality I could be wrong though

Regmariners use the DG2813 & whilst they're a little noisy on the rotar, I find them very reliable.

I would rather have a reliable watch with a cheap movement that's a little noisy than an expensive one that stops after a month.

So, it's a vote of yes to this movement from me.

As above, dg2813 are pretty reliable, but other 21j movements are not necessarily as well made

I have two watches of the 2813 variety and both are past four years old and running well.

I have a few watches with this movement and though the sweep is not as "smooth" as my 2836 watches they work well and if they last more than 10 years as in the previous posters experience I will think that I got my money's worth out of them.

Thanks. I noticed a watch for sale here that has this movement, and I was unfamiliar with it ( I am unfamiliar with all of them and learning ). I am leaning towards a 2836, as the majority of reviews on it are positive, both for reliability, availability, and serviceability.

DG2813 is one of the worse movement you can work on. Reassembling the train bridge is an absolute nightmare.
However in mu experience they’re not THAT bad, could work for years.

And, when it breaks, you can buy a complete replacement fo 20$.
It’s not worth it to service them as cheap as they are!

Edit: shit man. You just made me answer to a 3 years old post.
