I can tell you that the look and feel of the 388 is amazing and it does not feel stubby when you're wearing it.
Here is mine on Gunny straps:

if you get a 388 i highly suggest you loctite those screws that hold the lug wires to the case. I've had bad experiences with these failing and watches being los/dropped and broken

KW seem to have same issue than in 312 (at least) inscriptions are too brown and lume too green when not charged.

What was about 388 that didn't really grab you?

It was always one I wanted but when I got it it just didn't blow my hair back like I thought it would. I even had it on a really nice real croc strap. I think if I wore suits all the time I might have thought differently but it just didn't gel. I don't know if maybe the 380 might have felt better with a lower profile. Probably. I can't really put my finger on it but maybe it was a shape vs width vs thickness thing. I have other rads that I love though but the SS ones are 47mm (448, 425, 604) and the 45s are ceramic (292, 613). The 388 looks great in the pics above but when you're looking at it on your wrist it looks a lot different IMO. Which might be a good thing for you. Don't let me put you off though. Try it. You might well come to the conclusion that it's your favourite. The worst that will happen is that you"ll flip it.

And always unscrew them over a Tupperware container. I had some grief with a 292 screw and a very deep black shag pile rug. Luckily I remembered a friend had a dyson.

@ALE7575 for 388, Is there a difference between V1 and V2 in terms of the case thickness? And with v2, you could see the sandwich disk showing thru the date window? I came across a post on RG about that and wanted to verfiy that with you. Thanks!!

top tip for screws that go flying off into carpet.... Get a bar magnet and run it over the carpet it will quickly pull the screw from where it has hidden itself. I regularly manage to mislay screws and have been saved many many times by this. Just dont leave the magnet near your watches though!!!!

Thanks for the input. I totally see what you are saying and as you suggested, I just pulled the trigger on this one thinking that the worst thing that can happen is to flip it. [emoji16]

I received the 388 and I must say I absolutely adore this watch, especially the crown gives this watch such a character. The fit and finish is top notch and as Ale states in his guide, it has a strong gen-like presence. I was concerned about the thickness and the size but it is totally fine and I have no issue with it whatsoever. It sits really nice on my 6.75" wrist and it wears a lot smaller than what I expected. The only thing kind of bothers me is the second hands. It stutters and skips noticeably if you stare at it. I heard this is a common problem for the Seagull movt. Would a watchsmith do anything to make it smooth?
