I know everyone wants to know "the best" But I'm really seeking a very good rep Daytona, modded, fully functional and water proofed.
Anyone know? I've seen some on some sites, but a few of the combos aren't even gen offered.

I got mine from Andrew. Joshua has the same one. It's been great so far. I haven't done any diving with it though. Just casual swimming.

What would you say was the quality of the feel of the watch. I will buy a gen Daytona, Im on the list for a stainless whenever that may finally come around. But as for the rep, whats your take? Pretty good? Not so accurate?

Unfortunately, I am not very knowledgeable in the little specs on what makes a rep accurate. I can tell you for certain that anyone who has some Rolex knowledge will point out the following flaws on my rep:

Crown to thick
Case to thick
Font not correct
Meteorite not textured enough

I'm sure the list is longer, but like I said, I'm not very knowledgeable.

The wait on an all SS Daytona could be 10 years unless you are willing to pay a few g's over the MSRP. It's a $7,500 watch. If a dealer happens to carry one, they'll want at least $10,000 for it. That may not be true for everyone, but that's what I was told several times when I went to purchase one.

Sorry I got a little off topic of your question...

The quality and feel I'd say is great. The watch is nice weight and looks beautiful. If you're looking for a Daytona rep, it may be best to stick with the simpler styles. The Meteorite is a difficult thing to copy!

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum, guys.

There is a real problem with the movement in the Daytona with the running seconds at six. In a nutshell, they have added extra gears to the base asian 7750 movt to move the seconds from 9 to 6, etc. and it bogs down the movement. It may run for a while, but chances are good it's going to crap out, quite often sooner than later. You could spend a couple of hundred dollars sending it to a guy like Ziggy for service, but he's not keen on the movts either and in one case he had to do away w/ the running seconds at six to make the rest of the watch work. But if you're looking for a beautiful paperweight, go for it.

Actually, demand seems to be less nowadays for SS Daytonas. I have seen several, NIB or LNIB running at exactly list or maybe a few hundred dollars over here in Sweden.

I think the original is a great watch, but it´s not all that it´s hyped up to be. According to me atleast.

for me they are the most beautiful rolex made. i bought the rep to see if i like it well enough to spend the money on a gen. the ad's aren't too big on letting you try one out for a couple of days. lol i have found ss models everywhere for sale with white and black dial. you can start with allan furman, they have been around a long time. happy hunting!

I agree with hk. The Daytona is the most beautiful Rolex made. If I do in fact decide to buy a gen, it will be from my local dealer, just so I have a place to take it in for cleaning/service.

alligoat's take is the same of many members on this board. In fact, I didn't read one positive comment on the Daytona rep before I bought it. Yet I still gave in based on the wishful thinking that I may get the ONE that works great. I just love the way this watch is put together. It works great so far...

One thing I may suggest is the Invicta Speedway. It doesn't say Rolex and it has a "ticking" movement. However, it DOES look like a Daytona, it's water proof, and you can buy it at the mall for around $100. If you just want a reliable watch that looks like a Daytona, that may be the way to go.

I'm shocked to hear about these stainless Daytonas. I have a local AD that put me on the list for one. They told me it maybe 1-2 years before they can get me one! I love the Daytona, I'm going to buy a Stainless as soon as it comes in. I tried on a white gold one yesturday for $27,000!!!!!! I may not be a expert, but I cant tell a $20,000 difference between a white gold daytona, and a stainless daytona, besides a tiny bit of a color change, that I barely noticed only after the cleark pointed it out to me! So Im waiting for the SS.

Not much difference in look, but the metal is more "precious". SS is where it's at.

I saw a tiny difference, of course Im no expert. But for $20000 less!!!!!!! I'm on the SS list to get one. Plus I don't have a extra $27 laying around, and if I did I wouldnt be buying a Daytona! Ive been eyeing a Z06 Vette, $27,000 would make a great down payment!!

Get a Tudor Prince and some nice reps! Thats my take anyway. Any watch company who thinks they are so good they need to put me on a waiting list can shove it!

I like the feel of the gold as well. My solid gold DJ has a much nicer feel then the ss. Plus its black mop, that weights more as well. But between $7,900 for a SS Daytona, and $27,000 for the gold daytona, I can suck up the weight difference.
About the wait for the watch, its all good. I'm in no hurry for one.
