I retract my statement a little. @VixLa3

One of my non TDs sent me this. It's not the SS but the DiW version, one arabic, one non arabic. The fact this exists means the dial and parts already exist for the SS rep. So I'm sure it should be released sooner or later.

I wouldn't buy it, it's 180$ movement, a not so good copy of the 4130. They had issues with first release and changed the design (the first one was actually better looking) I'm talking strictly about factory that makes this movement not the whole watch as pictured above.


If you need skeleton try to stick with true 4130

For me it would be really satisfying, and I immediately thought about it when I saw what it is capable of a few days ago... incredible stuff

For now, I'm "satisfied" with having received at least one response from the TDs I contacted, the others will be very busy in this period
If I manage to buy something it would already be an optimal result...for now

Looking forward to receiving mine - will be collected in person on Saturday and I might even meet my mate straight off his 13 hour flight at Heathrow Sunday morning. Just for clarity: he was doing the journey anyway……I didn’t send a courier business class return to collect.

I’ve thought for ages that the gen of this would be my grail watch IRL. So at the moment it’s my rep grail.

One interesting flaw is the caseback. It says AROLLA CHALLENGE. Not blah blah RUBENS BARRICHELLO blah blah
Does that mean Sonic is about to release this:

Looking forward to receiving mine - will be collected in person on Saturday and I might even meet my mate straight off his 13 hour flight at Heathrow Sunday morning. Just for clarity: he was doing the journey anyway……I didn’t send a courier business class return to collect.

Interesting, but I hope Sonic does it better, after analyzing the close-up photos I preferred to abandon the idea of taking the Barrichello (one of my grail too)

Ok, for me, the inexplicably different chrono minute hand is fine, all the other very obvious differences are fine, but my eyes (honestly I care little about the judgment of the "public") would always go to the random letters on the rehaut, and the quality of the graphics on the bezel, etc...

This morning I managed to order four watches, I avoided getting the Barrichello for now, but if you already have it, can you post some close up photos please?

Help me change my mind!!

I’ll post photos when I have it. I was thinking more about how I personally feel wearing it. Sports and steel suit me better I think.

I have two quartz Barrichellos with a correct chrono minute hand and perhaps that will work to do a swap. Maybe a bezel swap in time, but I can live with it as it is. I can’t see the rehaut lettering issue anyway so don’t point it out!

But I will have to wait longer now as my mate’s flight was delayed so he will be on his way back empty handed. Ugh.

I saw one with misaligned letters, and other "problems", why shouldn't I point it out...I saw one with the letters misaligned compared to the seconds indexes, and other "problems", why shouldn't I point it out...

Maybe I saw a bad one, I'm ready to change my mind, that's why it would be nice to see some photos

As stated, those 4 are not Sonic. Cheap, not 4130, chrono hand is second hand and none of the subdials function, almost none of the details look like the gen, plus about 15mm thick.

I have the Sonic Montoya Platinum and while I agree it seems pretty mad to rep the platinum instead of the steel one, I like it.

Thankfully Sonic has just replied the steel Barrichello which is my grail watch so it’s on order

it’s been great. No mods that I know of are recommended except for the obvious one of brushing the bracelet to a satin finish throughout, and I’ve not done any mods myself yet (I’d like to make it into a steel version not platinum, which needs new hands, a grey skeleton dial (sourceable) and a new bezel without “platinum“ written on it). I don’t think it’s been updated since I bought it. It hasn’t been serviced.
I have a Barrichello too which is also a Sonic factory skeleton 4130, and which is even better.

I ordered three Barrichello months ago now, yes, after thinking about it I was planning on using them as bases for modifications, but apparently they are not being delivered for now.

With one TD I had a lot of problems with the refund, proposed by him because many months passed, for two pieces... with another TD I left the order pending, I'm still waiting for news, but I think it will never arrive now.

Does anyone know more? And above all, does anyone have any Barrichello to sell?

From my understanding that skeleton 4130 is quite difficult to produce for a rep factory so I think it's just typical rep supply chain issues

I have seen QC of this piece like once in the last 2 months though... so maybe?
