Actually the noticeable difference between the black 520 and 500 dials is the sheen of the sub dials. The steel bezel 520 has very shiny mirror like sub dial rings. The ceramic bezel 500 sub dials are very matte.

This is the actual look :)

True, the black is close...so interchangeable. Frankly, I like the looks that you have on ceramic better. It is much easier to maintain. I also have a bunch of gen SS bezels and they scratch all the time.

BTW, the main reason I asked my question originally was I was trying to find to a place about where to source a gen 116500 black dial :p

Isnt the dial on arf too white and too matte compared to gen?

A friend of mine has a gen (I see it all the time) and I have the ARF. Frankly, they are very close with regards to the Matte finish and no sunburst.

The only issue with ARF...as you know the outer border of the sub-dials have shiny paint on them and that shiny ring goes around the whole outer circle. When sun light hits it directly, the shine makes the ARF sub dials seem a tad bit thicker. The gen dial doesn’t do this. Indoors (without direct sunlight hitting the dials), both look alike.

Others who have who have compared these Black Dials in person have given a very similar description of the differences.
