Hello everyone😊. Looking for some advice here. I have a genuine Daytona 116520 which I was gifted many years ago and absolutely loved. 7 years ago I had a freak accident with the watch. I arrived home with a bag of dog treats. I placed them on my glass cooker top, took my watch off, placed that next to them and went for a shower. My dog managed to climb up and turn on the cooker rings full whilst I was in the shower, when I got out, the dog treats were on fire and watch was red hot. I stupidly grabbed it with tongs and placed it in the sink with cold water in an attempt to save it. The temperature shock blew off the bezel and glass, filling the watch with water. Sickened, I boxed it and put it away in a cupboard until now, rendering it ruined. My dog just passed away and I've just plucked up the courage to face trying to have it repaired, to remember my dog by and to have it back on my wrist. I have managed to completely restore the bracelet, case, bezel and glass. The inside is completely destroyed. I sent it away to price repair and I simply cannot afford anywhere near what it would cost to have it repaired properly. My question is.. is there a close to exact 1:1 replica that I could use parts from to repair it? I need a movement, dial, hands and crown. Is there a rep where the parts would all fit in and on the original case? Thanks for reading 😊

Hello and WELCOME from the official RWI reception desk!

You are receiving this introduction because you either posted in the "new members say hi" section or —for the first time(s)— elsewhere. In the latter case, consider introducing yourself in the aforementioned section.

If you haven't already, please make sure to read all relevant sticky threads. They contain important and essential information such as the forum rules! Most importantly the sales rules, because you will NOT yet be eligible / allowed to sell unless you meet certain criteria / are certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Please also take another look at this important sticky that you should already have seen after logging on for the first time:

This quick anti-fraud guide is essential if you are about to order from a dealer for the first time:

If you need any further assistance, feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We will gladly help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

Not an expert here, but isn't more simple to buy an high end replica an wear it? I suppose you can replace your watch with replica parts taken from a high end rep, but is it worth it? Don't get me wrong, but your story is really weird, so I hope it's true. There are so many strange people who come here, being a little suspectful is understandable. Almost all TD have a CF Daytona, or ARF or VSF or BTF. All those abbreviations stand for the most reliable factories, with high end replica. The DD4130 movement is a clone of the original one, so I suppose can fit yours. Also crown, dial, hands are well made. You will see inside the forum a lot of discussion about who have the best dial, or crown or bezel. Generally speaking all the factories I have mentioned will provide you with an extremely good replica, so you can try to replace parts. But again, by my point of view it doesn't make sense. Good luck anyway.

Pictures of the damaged dial, hands, and movement would help us out to assess if they can be repaired.

We look forward to you posting pictures.

Thanks for the reply and advice.
Very weird yes, but absolutely true. I would have no gain from making it up, I'm not trying to sell anything. Yeah it would make sense to wear the high end rep out of the box if it were only about the aesthetics. The watch I have here means a lot to me and more so now that I can look at it in memory of my dog who was my best friend and cause this tragedy. Doing so will render the watch worthless I know, but I'm never going to sell it anyway and I'd rather feel like it was my own watch that I've had all this time. I was looking at the rep of it from andiot which looks great but I wasn't sure if gens and reps were compatible, ie same threads etc. Thanks again.

I'll take some in detail when I get it back, it's on its way to me the place I sent it to to be quoted, he said he could restore the movement for £4k and have someone repaint the dial for £600. This is far outwith my budget ATM and I'm not interested in ever selling so I'd just like it to look good and work again for as little as possible.

Generally speaking, there is no reason why you couldn't buy a replica 116520 (BTF or clean with 4130 clone and swap the replica movement, dial and hands into your genuine case, assuming everything else is in order. This way you can save the original parts and hopefully down the road a few years. You can afford the repairs When that time comes you can swap the damaged parts in and have it repaired properly.

Perfectly understandable. Good luck again, with a lot of patience and the necessary tools you will be fine. Condolences for your dog. I know what it means.

Sincere condolences on the loss of your dog.

Restoring the genuine movement for 4000 might be a little pricey.

Dial (genuine) I believe you can find one for a little higher price so I dont think you need to get it repainted.

Thanks.
