Hello

I think you will be very pleased to go with davidsen

his cases are most accurate on market, sure WM are a little better but much more expensive. in comparison to gen the WM 1:1 is NOT 1:1 so not the way

but that are only my 2 cent.

for cheaper go with Silix/Jay i think

cheers helmut

it has a rolex screw down crown and a Molnija 3602 movt. as far as i know it has no problems with it or the movement.

My only concern: does the Molnija 3602 just "stop" when its fully wound?... the 6497 movement in my cheap@ss rolliedialvintagepam of course stopped like it hit a wall... I was unable to fully screw the crown down several times because it wound to the "stop" point while the crown was halfway down the threads... I solved this issue by winding it about 80% and then screwing it down, thereby winding it to about 95% or so... but one or two overshots on the winding lead to a broken stem and a pissed off OiRogers... I've replaced the stem and ground the threads off the tube... no more issues, but no swimming either. :(

Keep us posted on this beautiful piece... its been a long time since I've purchased a new watch and this particular choice of yours calls out to me to acquire an example of this watch as well.

Oi, that sounds like a stem adjustment issue to me. When you push the stem in to engage the screw-down crown, that should be far enough in to "disengage" from the winding position.

Quite possilby was... but has been "fixed" by having the tube ground down. :D I was unaware the 6497 had a "disengage from winding position"... I know most of the auto-movements have that point, but was unaware the 6497/6498 had that point... only really ever dug into one 6497, so my knowledge of that movement is pretty limited.

Perhaps I just need to see some nice photos of the incoming HK custom then before I get all "order ready"...

ok guys, here the pictures are hot off the press. i asked him for a aged creamy look for the lume on the dial and hands instead of the orange looking lume and a black strap. he put a saphire case back on it so the movement could be seen and i have asked him for the correct solid case back and a extra plexigls crystal just in case i kill this one. these are the pictures he just sent me. i have already asked him if the crown is unscrewed so we will have a answer about that soon.

i think i can live with it just like it is just adding a custom strap.

what do you guys think?

Very, very nice piece! Awesome! But, like you (?), I think the solid caseback will be better, at least if it is a thick one. The only problem may be that the hands and markers look too new, or what do you think? You don't want to put a DSN piece in the oven the first thing when it arrives. Jebus, that IS a goodlooking watch!

the case back is supposed to be solid but i am just going to ask him to send it as a extra and leave the clear one on it for now. as for the hands and hour markers i don't want them and darker and or deteriorating. it has the look of being restored at some point in its life instead of being let go and not taken care of. everybody that knows me knows that anything i have that looks bad gets refinished and brought back to new as possible standards. that is why i wanted the lume to look more creamy instead of brown/orange. i don't like that look, to me it looks like it needs to be restored instead of just looking vintage. i will wear it allot so the case and crystal will look worn soon enough without any artificial help. :D
