babola, you don't think the markers on both the 001A and 002A are pushed in too far from the edges of the dial? Granted it's less noticeable on the 002 than the 001, due to the lack of the seconds subdial.

Maybe it's just me?

The caseback is SWEET, though. I hope he comes out with a correct 004A caseback for my PVD project! 8)

A tad, I agree, but don't forget the rehaut on DSN watches is slightly wider than standard. Pushing the indices more towards the rehaut (dial edge) would compensate and off set that fact but you'll then end up with a dial that would look to "spread" and wide if installed in a standard rep case that comes with smaller rehaut than DSNs.

Pick your poison fellas, I've learned to ignore some irregularities in the rep world...doctor said it's good for my helth and general wellbeing :p

Ah, if I'm picking up what you're putting down, then using a DSN 002A dial and caseback in a "standard" rep case might visually fix the indices pushed too far from the edge? I was wondering about that..... Do I smell a 009A project coming on?

Does the 195 originally have AR coating? If yes, is it single or double?

Yes, single AR. No Panerai have been offered with double AR, unless some of the new Ferrari line has it....

DSN's PVDs seem to be to be the best out there. They seem more accurate than any other's (dealer's i mean. modded ones could be better, as i read).

Is that a question, nikos?

If so, then my opinion is yes. DSN's are the best PVD watches out there and yes, some light modifications can make them better.

Thanks hooligan. I think i am going to buy my first rep. Is there something special i need to ask him to do, in order to avoid having to send the watch back? (service, cleaning, lubricating etc.). I am also worried about customs (i live in Greece). Are the chances of having problems high or "just chances"?

You can ask him to double-check your watch, but it's a coin toss as to if he will do it or not.

I have no idea how tough customs are in Greece. I know we have some other members from Greece, perhaps they could chime in? My guess is that you'll be fine. DSN ships from Hong Kong, not mainland China, that *might* help.

In my opinion, Customs in Greece don't even know that Panerai exists... (If it were for Rolex, for instance, things would be more difficult) :)

Good information to think about, I've been on the fence about ordering the pvd. I am going to wait for an ultimate.

DSN's quality control has been up and down over the past 18+ months. Lately it seems it has been more down than up. The one thing I can say is that he's always made it right with the buyer, as far as I'm aware. It IS frustrating, though.

hubrisin, you might be waiting for a while...

If you mean by ultimate a flawless PAM replica - it seems you will have to wait forever

I believe an ultimate might be the pursuit of the owner, it depends how picky you want to be with every detail. Even with my new 187 I'm finding new things to mod here and there. The urge to mod is overwhelming, we all want the perfect rep.

Define "wrong".

Is it the best 010/114 dial available today? Yep, it sure is.

Is it as good as the original version of this dial that DSN had produced? Nope, it's not.

The new dial has the cardinal numbers (12, 3, 6, 9) a little less bold, the "L Swiss Made L" text is too close to the minute markers and the open end of the 6/9 aren't quite as closed as on the old version. At the end of the day, his current 010/114 dial is still very accurate.

I hope this helps.

Thanks hooligan. I’m planning of buying another 2 reps from Davidsen, his “ultimate†Fiddy and 010D or 002A. Haven’t made up my mind yet. Any suggestions.
